Well if you want to get technical all anyone needs is a phillips and flathead screwdriver and an adjustable wrench (cringe). It looks like a medium sized set from any local store is what you need.

Yep. I think for what you're looking for you really don't need anything more than some screwdrivers and a metric socket wrench set. A power drill and a Dremmel would be nice additions but are not "must have". Only if you have the $$ to cover it. I just borrow my uncle's Dremmel and power tools

A can of WD-40. 
I use it for everything.
Works great for removing bugs off the bumper and grill. I also use it on my roof rack and the vinyl strip on my back bumper, makes them look like new.

one set of tools that EVERYONE needs... a set of racheting wrenches... i can not tell you the frustration and time and bloody knuckles saved by getting a set of those!
oh, and if you cant get those right off the bat, get a set of mechanics gloves, you will thank me later
oh, and nitrile gloves for greasy work... makes clean up a breeze.
and a BIG bag of cat litter... to clean up those random liters of oil that jumped off the table and to their death in your drive way
and a bottle opener, welded to your frame rail... because sometimes its hard to get out from under your truck...
and word to the wise... dont use wd-40 to lubricate ANYTHING on your truck... only use it for what it was designed for, and that is not a long time lube.

Come to the "Dark Side" Runnerup...I know you want too.
The vinyl strip on my rear bumper was faded so I hit it with some WD-40...Before and after photo below.
I also brush my teeth with the stuff. :biggrin2:

lol, i would paymoney to see that. as for the back piece... next time try mothers back to black, works as advertised, and turns it back to black.
as far as lubes go... the only thing i lube with wd 40 is stuck bolts if i dont have any pb blaster laying around
