Thanks, it was a good vehicle while I had it. I did not make it, but my good friend did. I believe it was just a soft rubber tube that was cut to fit.

I wouldn't quite suggest it as a downgrade. It cost half as what the 4Runner ran me, gets 6-7 more MPGs, better road manners than the 4Runner, and will do just as good, or better, in the snow as the 4Runner does. Sure, it might not have the sex appeal or take me down hardcore trails that the 4Runner could, but it's all about what checks the most boxes for ya at the end of the day. In this case, the Subaru checked more boxes for me.

I asked $10,500, and knew I wouldn't crack 5 digits, but settled at $9800 with the buyer. I think it's a testament to these 4Runner, on how well they hold their value, considering the high miles mine had (180,xxx) at the time of sale.

"I have never wheeled in this vehicle!! I used it to go up to mount Ashland for snowboarding, but that is it." I'm not sure that statement holds true. I sold the vehicle to him in the beginning of June, and now he has selling it in late September. Not quite the ideal snowboarding season...

Same here. It treated me well... i'll always have a soft spot for 4Runners.
Yeah, it won't be moving anytime soon with that price tag. $7000-$9000 seems a little more realistic.

Slowly trolling Craigslist for 4Runner's. If one comes up with the right price/options, I just might find myself in one.

I really enjoyd your thread and your 4Runner was awesome. This is my first posting as I just bought a white 2000 SR5, 3.4 with a 5 speed manual. One senior owner, low miles, all original, all Toyota maintenance, like new, etc. I couldn't find a sport/highlander with 5 speed that didn't have 200K miles and I had to have the 5 speed. In Denver, your 4Runner would definitely have brought the $10K+ price, even at 180K miles. They are very sought after, especially the black sports, in Denver and last maybe a day on Craigslist.
A friend that I work with bought a 99 Highlander Sport, one owner, 5 speed, all black, mint condition w/120K miles about a year ago for $8500. The owner had such an overwhelming response to her Craigslist posting and she had to shut it down in about an hour. She could have easily sold that for $11-12k.
Good luck with the Subaru and search for another 4Runner!

Sounds like you got yourself a nice set-up. I've been intrigued by the ol'e standard transmission... have yet to learn how to drive one. How many miles did you pick this one up for? Let see some pics.
Yeah, the prices are just absolutely insane here in the PNW. It's tough to get into a 4Runner that is reasonably priced and has not been abused. I'll be sitting and awaiting, if/when the right one comes along. Congrats on your purchase and hope you sincerely enjoy it!
In the meantime, this one local Runner has caught my eye. It looks fairly clean, but I sure do like the interior upgrades in the '99+ models.

Subaru is pending sale. By the end of the week, I might be car-less, but that only means I am one step closer to getting back into a Runner. I have been obsessing on CList these last few days, in hopes of finding another clean Runner. Here are a few candidates.
What i'm looking for:
-1999, 2000, or 2001.
-E Locker. "RR Diff Lock".
-Maintenance records/Service Receipts.
-Lowest miles possible.
-Clean Exterior/Interior.
-No color preference.
-Hood scoop, preferably.
