My 1st New-to-me 4Runner - Pumped!!!

Well, I'm taking ownership of a 2006 4.7L V8 4Runner with 72k on the clock this Thursday afternoon.

I've slowly become pumped about it. I'm typically a performance car kinda person, coming most recently from a BMW M5.

We bought a popup camper and I'm sure the new-to-me beast will be capable of hauling it. I need to do some research to find out more about the tow package on this thing, but it surely will do a better job than my wife's Acura MDX whose rear wheels look bagged and tucked when we have the camper on there with all gear and family packed in.

Looking forward to breaking 200k miles in this rig! I'm all about maintenance and hope to learn a ton here.

Edit: I'll post up pics when I get it, and there is a little blue led light below the dash and steering wheel I'm dying to find out what it is. May be nothing...I dunno. Any guesses before I pick it up Thursday? Brake controller?

Got the 4Runner, and I slapped an audio system in it, along with a brake controller for pulling the popup camper.

I have to say that along with new separates and a 12" sub in the back, now the 4Runner is where it needed to be.

Now I'm just waiting for the CEL and VSC lights to reset from a loose gas cap. One thing I'll say about the BMW I used to have; it got me used to (emotionally) dealing with check engine lights, and today I found that even if you throw an EVAP code due to gas cap, the VSC light will come on as well. Makes me feel better that this will resolve.

I just picked up my first holiday trailer last year and pull it with my v8 Runner and found it pulls great, hope it works as good for you too.

Sounds like you didn't waste any time starting to mod it, great to hear. Lots of good info. on this site as you've probably noticed, welcome aboard.

I went straight for the V8 with tow package.

I'll be pulling a pop up camper and need the setup. Mine is a 2-wheel drive. I used to have a 4x4 Tahoe (1997) but found I never used the capability.

I'm not sure of gas mileage. I don't really calculate or log it (for better or worse, I just fill up when needed). I probably don't wanna know, ha.
