My 3rd Gen could blow chrome off a tailer hitch, but the 5th.....?

The fan motor in the A/C heating system in my 5th Gen just wont get it done. It is barely a trickle in comparison to my 3rd gen. Anyone have any ideas on a fix? I asked the Wizard of Ant, but thought I would throw it out to the general public. I need an engineer that can fix my problem....can I upgrade the blower motor? increase the power, I have replaced the filter and there are no critters living in there. Please post suggestions.

Mine on my Limited blows great on high and could nearly knock my hat off.Especially if I have the pass. and rear vents closed.Might be how the dual control system is laid out with ducting,different controller or maybe the fan switch is delivering more juice.

I've looked it up before in the parts manual as I've read complaints from SR5/TE owners and it seems they do all have the same blower motor. PN/87130-60610.

Antman needs to come up with a supercharger(more power) for the blower!

Absolutely. Anything is upgradable. Unfortunately, modding a HVAC is just like modding anything else. You put a bigger blower motor on then you can't hear yourself think because the velocity of air through existing ducts is too high. Then you put in bigger ducts and find the air temperature is never warm because your heat source is not enough for the bigger fan and ducts. Then you get an external heat source and it cooks because you can't remove the heat fast enough so you need a bigger heat sink and blower motor. (yeah I have never been down this road haha) Repeat.

Try this first: Take out the filter, make sure rear duct is closed and put it on Recirc with the setting on high. This is way I have found to get the most heat quickly. If you live in a 4 season climate, I have found there is not much dust or pollen floating around in the winter, especially in the snow and rain, so your filter is not necessary.

Ya know- if I was unhappy with mine, I would probably;

A- BREAK it open

B- cut holes in it

C- add a bunch of LED's

As an engineer, I have to agree with 1engineer. Less resistance in the system will essentially give you more flow (or the intended flow). Put the ducts nearest you pointed at your chest and you'll eventially get cold. A/C use the upper ducts (dial), Heat use the lower.

The AC system in the 4Runner and Lexus GX has been reported as being too small for the car.

Something like this is all relative - I know people who drive with the windows down in mid-day high humidity summer weather.

It never completely cools the car off - especially when in stop and go traffic. Window tint helped slightly.

My heat and A/C rock! If anything I wish I had a super low setting. Sometimes the blower is too much even on low, and I have to close the vents a little.

Is there any difference in the 2011 motor and the 2010 motor? Anyone know, or can check easily? If so, will the 2011 fit in the 2010?

5th Gen Heater Blower Replacement?

2010 Limited...
Looking to see if anyone has replaced the blower motor for Heater/AC themselves? Trying to get an idea if I have to be a contortionist! I don't even know if it is accessed under the hood or from inside under glovebox. Mine's been squealing like a pig for about 6 months! and of course I waited until winter to get serious about fixing it!

OP - just a thought... Close the vents that are in the back seat or rear to see if that increases the flow of the front? Maybe there is a problem with the feed to the back.
