My 4 dollar window screen!

Hey guys, so I've been a member for some time now. Have not yet had the time to start a build thread however I wanted to share my 4 dollar window screen for camping.

Basically it's a screen for your gutters, I walked by and it caught my eye, plastic with a small screen, might not be small enough though, and last it had a channel for the top of the window to catch in

Plan is since they only come in two foot pieces is to join two pieces together for the back window for a nice three window ventilation without bugs!

That is fricken awesome. Perfect for when your camping and if you've got a rear cargo set up capable of sleeping quarters.

Very smart! I'm going to have to steal this. I've got a plan to make a magnetic screen to cover the sunroof but have the two side windows will help air flow a lot.

Go for it, I got the item at lowes however I'm sure Home Depot has it too. It's only a couple bucks and I used scissors, box cutter to form it. Basically copied the window. Made it long enough to slide into the frame once I notched the bottom piece out. I need to clean up the ends a bit so it fits more snug, however I did this real quick so I could get the idea out to everyone who might be heading for a camping trip.

It's crude but cheap, my plan was to use 1/8 inch wood, then cut holes, then add a screen. Besides the cost, the time involved was almost not worth it.

While picking up paint at Lowes, I walked down the roofing isle and this baby was eye level just waiting for me to realize it's potential.

Brilliant. You should add it to the cheap mods thread so it will live forever. The thread started for 3rd gens but most mods are simple and can be used by several gens.

I think I will also buy some finer screen to hopefully keep some more bugs out. And paint black, of course.

Also an idea for the back window:

Over on the Jeep forum, a guy used basic door/window screen material, folded the outer edges and sewed (sp?) them. Then simple velcro on the screen and the surrounding window frame, and it was a perfect camping setup. I think it also cost him all but $10?

Just a thought.

Found a 4 foot one at Home Depot for 1.97. Looks like it is just long enough to do the big window in the rear. Also looks like Lowes has them in black if you order them online.
