Well guys, I went yesterday to autozone and got a brand new duralast gold battery... $89.99 with the core swap.
First start the car died about 2 seconds after... I guess the computer needed to readjust.
Second start... still weak like how I mentioned in the original post but at least it didn't die. I hoped that it was just because it was a new battery.
After several trips and several chances for the computer to readjust and new battery to charge I can unfortunately confidently say nothing has changed with the weak starting issue.
And I feel kinda bad basically throwing away my original equipment Panasonic battery... it was only 4 years and 1 month old so I probably had another year or two left in it. Then again I wouldn't want my wife to be stranded. Still a feel a bit wasteful.
So this upcoming week I'm going to swap my 335i's keys for my wife's 4runner keys and take the camera with me to document the starting issue. I'm going to try some experimenting with priming the fuel pump a couple times before starting, and then well equipped with evidence and documentation of the issue go into my Toyota dealer and demand it be fixed.
I am a little curious if my Toyota platinum 7 year 100k mile warranty will show up the in their computers or if I'm going to have to jump through some hoops there. I have the paperwork for it somewhere but I bought the warranty a couple years ago from a reputable out of state Toyota dealer over the internet.
Just today I noticed a new problem... one of the headlights is hazing over on the inside. I wonder if that would be covered under the extended warranty? Probably not. Guess I might need to do some searching around the board.
