My 60K Maintenance Rules - Maybe You Can Do The Same

So after calling the dealer and finding out for everything I wanted done, it would be pushing around $800. I went to my local Lube Stop where I have been beating them up for years.
After me pounding on them for a bit, one of the employees offered me his family discount. He gets 5 per year and never uses all of them. He said he offered because he liked rig and I was taking care of maintenance that many ignore. This is what I got:

For $256.46 my rig got all this :-)

- Oil Change (plus standard fluid toppings)
- Transmission Fluid Exchange
- Front Differential Service Oil
- Rear Differential Service Oil
- Transfer Case Service Oil
- Fuel Intake System Cleaner/Heartland Pure Power Plus (actual flush, not cleaner put in tank)
- Power Steering Exchange
- Cabin Air Filter

EDIT: The fuel injector and power steering I did just because of the insane price I got.

Dealer service for $800 at 60K miles?? My Cayenne 72K maintenance was $1K and that's Porsche dealer pricing. Are all of your listed items really necessary?

The fuel injector and power steering I did just because of the insane price I got. I had done none beyond oil changes until now. It is recommended if you tow/off road. Plus the LE is AWD and I use 4WD a lot through winter and occasional off road.

The starting price at the dealer for 60K was $294, included oil change and inspection. Yeah, that's crazy. Then went north quickly from there for transfer, differentials, etc.

$256.46 is a great price, especially when you consider the labor involved.
 
Exactly! When Lube Stop dude said of you do all recommend maintenance and I will hook you up, it was a no brainer.

Lastly, cant hurt me with warranty if I have a 4WD drive issue for example, they can not blame on me for lack of maintenance. I'm covered through Toyota to 125K, they sold it to me 50% because of Costco for $1,100ish. Another no brainer.

Wow! And... where do you live again / what was the name of this lube shop?? :naughty: (obviously kidding as I understand this was a family discount he extended to you)
 
The problem with many of thoose shops are that they do not always use the correct fluid. If the wrong trans fluid is used you can expect problems down the road. I do all my own maintenance but if I did not it would most likely be the Toyota dealer. Also make sure they used the proper power steering fluid and not a generic power steering fluid. On my 03 it takes Dexron 3 in the power steering and not generic power steering fluid. This guy may be ok but a lot of people have had problem with stripped drain threads etc. You will not know about this till next time the oils is changed.

They have done my last 3 oil changes. Do you know the specific trans fluid so I can double check?
 
Thanks. I feel good about it. I heard them say "D3" to another guy, trans I will double check to be sure. They had my car (meaning specs) pulled up on computer. All good.
