Its approx 32 hours of labor to remove old engine,remove parts to put on new engine,put back parts, install motor, I'm sure a new fan clutch would be needed,. thats about 1600 bucks in labor, 3600 total + misc(you know theres gonna be some) . Will cost more if I want to purchase a labor warranty. Parts are covered,not labor, If I want 1000 in labor warranty thats and additional 300 bucks on top of the 200. so now we are at 4grand + or - a hundred bucks. Which is close to the price he quoted me of him putting in a remanfac engine and guaranteeing it for 3 yrs parts and labor. I am thankful for everyones input but I think these recommended sights for long or short blocks are geared towards diy'ers.

The reason I am on the fence about fixing this car is because of the great condition its in,interior is a 9.5 out of a ten,nice big michelin tires,nice rims,new radiator,new upper and lower ball joints,new bearings,new running boards,I bought this a year ago for 3,000 and I have a stack of paper work from all the the work the woman had done to it. She even did stuff that didn't need replaced. Im just real bummed about the whole issue, the truck broke down last friday on the way to work. Come to find out the damn thing was low on oil???? I said WTH!!!?? There was no oil in my garage where I park,no smoke coming out while driving or start up. Then I think what if I drop 3 grand in this (150,000) and something happens to tranny? I ran into a guy two weeks ago who had a sweet 84-85? 4x4, 33's tan army color to it,nice bumpers,sharp looking truck, he was asking 4500 for it. I told him I really liked it and wanted it,I just need to sell this first. Then this **** happens....AAAAARRRRGGGHH!

the mechanic didnt offer a short block becasue he wants to make money plane and simple.

and yes sorry i posted the wrong link this is the one you would need and its WAY cheaper then if your mechanic rebuilds the engine you literally would swap intake and stuff and be done. 500$ for install maximum.

If you lived near me i would do the install for you for a steak dinner but hey you do what you need done but anything over 2500 is WAY out of the ballpark for a 3vze.

My mechanic has a customers car at his shop that has been sitting for 6months because JIS won't warranty an engine the customer bought? This is just a big ass headache.
