Wheel studs
2 week ago I jump in my truck to pickup my son from finishing school, I take exit 13A 78 Aiea/Honolulu towards Redhill and I feel a thump and the truck starts shaking slightly. The shaking starts getting worse and I put my hazards on and start to merge to the right side off the road. I jump out the truck and see my driver front rim being held on the axle from my locking wheel hub. I broke 4/6 stock wheel studs. Just July of 2024 I had the same problem, but I broke 5/6 wheel studs on that incident and my tire camp off the same place going 65 mph that day. Well I had the extra studs in my truck, so I changed all 6 on the freeway. I limped it back home on the highway from Moanaloa to Mililani during traffic hours. Started to do research and I found out that I only had 4 full turns in my lug nuts. Rule of thumb is 8 full turns or better. I currently have the Dorman 610-463 03-06 Toyota Matrix lugs that are the correct length, but is not threaded all the way down like the ARP 10.9 Stud. So mow I have to cut .500 off the ARP wheel studs so I can run both my street wheels(Volk Large PCDs) and OFFROAD wheels (Hutchinson beadlocks). The Volks are acorn lugs and the Hutchinson are stock shank lugs. Now to cut the ARPs to length and start the process.
