Since you're a hunter, and hunting season is coming up soon, and because all the pictures you have posted of your new roof rack show the rack EMPTY....

I vote no more gratuitous rack pictures UNLESS there is a dead deer and/or deer parts on/in the roof rack. Challenge accepted?

Nice try. There is NO WAY I am going to try and lift 150lb. GUTTED deer above my head just to put it in my roof rack. That is what my trailer is for :hatsoff:. ( or my hitch rack)

I can just see the dried blood all down the sides of the runner from a gutted deer up there. There are days I will bring home three in one day...:hunter:
I think it would kill me to try and lift them up there.

Last year I killed 8....I am hoping to increase that number this year. (I hunt for food FYI)

I'd rather see you get the boy Bambi than a female version. The truck looks great and I'm kicking myself for not putting that body lift on, since it was so easy. Glad it worked out for you though.

I'm just busting your chops a little. Your thread has been giving me a chuckle or two all day. When you said deer hunting, it just made sense w/that big roof rack that you should throw one up on top. Remember, I also said and/or DEER PARTS in my challenge. So maybe just the head if you get a nice buck?

The way yours is lifted is exactly the way I want to lift mine, what spacers did you use? The only thing I am lacking for my lift is the rear coils then I will have everything I need. And like yourself will eventually put in a 1'' body lift.

I really like your trailer hitch mod!! I almost wanted to just take mine off but I do tow occasionally but now that I see what you did to yours I really need to take some notes and do that to mine as well that looks so clean!! Where are you in southern illinois? I am south of Indy about 25 miles, we are trying to all get together next month if you are going to be available.

So, because of a few factors (rain all weekend and upcoming knee surgery) I have put off painting the limited flairs for a few weeks. However, I have been wanting to play around with some scrap metal to see if I could make a wind deflector for my roof rack. The current result is not the finished product, as I used rattle can flat black as a temporary finish until I break out the good paint.

I didn't want to drill into the rack or the deflector, so I came up with a good solution, at least I think so.

The metal I had wasn't quite the width I would have liked, but it will do for now I think. I would have liked to see it a couple of inches wider on either side.

Anyway, here are the pics.

that looks almost exactly like what i came up for a quick fairing idea. mine's just plexiglass painted with bedliner and zip tied but works like a charm, no wind noise at all.

Where did you get those clamps? What are they called? I'm thinking of making a fairing for mine too but I was going to match the curve where the top of the windshield meets the roof. As for the width, I agree with you that it needs to be a bit wider. That's the other reason why I wanted it curved so I can kinda cover all the way to the curves/corners of the rack. As for the height, I wonder if the fairing would be as affective if it only went up slightly past the lower front bar. Hopefully it wont look funny, I think it should be enough to push the air over the top bar at highway speeds. The full fairing height just looks too huge for me so I'm trying to see if I could make an effective one that's a bit shorter.

Ace HW thx! really like that place, they seem to have hard to find stuff that HD and Lowes don't have.

It'll be a while since Josh still has one to build before he can work on mine but hopefully soon!

On the shorter fairing, just imagine splashing water from a hose on a flat horizontal surface at really low pressure the water will just drip off the edges but as you increase the water pressure the water will start to stream away from the edge horizonally before dropping off. So I would imagine it would be the same for a wind fairing, as you go faster the wind will be pushed up and when you go fast enough it should clear the top front bar. Hopefully this will be around the speed when you start to notice wind noise. I'll Pm you what I have in mind.

BTW, at what speed do you notice wind noise when you have your windows closed?
