ARB install pics

So I started removing my front bumper last night so I could install my new ARB bumper. I performed the "end cap mod" to strengthen up the frame rails. All went well......at first. When I went to mount the bumper, it hit my cooling fan for my transmission cooler I had to remove the fan for now. I am going to have to re-design the cooler/fan location to accommodate the new bumper.

I don't have any good pics of the bumper on the vehicle, since I finished up at midnight last night

Have you considered having it color matched to the lower cladding (tan)?

Also how are the Trail Gear spacers working out for you? Any vibrations from them since they aren't hubcentric?

I'm going to black out the limited trim to have an all black truck.

I do get some vibrations from those spacers...my bad for not realizing they weren't hubcentric.:gun4:

How do you plan on blacking out the limited trim? I have the same color scheme on mine and was planning on doing the same. I want to color match it, and get it done professionally, but I'm not sure yet.

I plan on taking all of the trim off, sanding it, painting and clearing it, then put it back on.

Giddy as a school girl

Whew, what a long day I have had today. My daughter's 1994 Geo Tracker's turn signals quit working and it was a pain to fix, took most of the night. The switch assy in the steering column went up in smoke, I had to rebuild it. YUK is all I have to say about that.:bash:

I haven't had a chance to work on installing the winch.:moping:

However,:frog:, I am excited because I am going to St. Louis tomorrow to go to Certifit to pick up a Sport Hood!! :reddance: I LOVE the way they look, and for the price, I HAVE to get it. It is $73. I can get all of the toyota "scoop" parts for around $110, so for around $200 + paint I will have my sport hood. Because I want to paint my trim black ANYWAY, the paint costs will be offset somewhat. (as if I need an excuse to spend $$ on the runner)

My Toytec lift should be here tomorrow, so this weekend I will have a Winch to install, Sport hood to play with, and a lift to put on. Should be a fun weekend.arty:

Late night

I started working on my rig after I got home from work yesterday, taking my time. My goal was to install my Toytec lift (coil overs, diff drop, rear springs), and to replace my LBJ and OTRE with the Tacoma pieces. I stopped for supper around 11 pm. Finished up around 1:30 am this morning.

All in all it went very smooth.

Here is the truck before the Toytec lift. This is the factory springs w/ 1" front spacers and 1.5" rear spacers, sporting my new ARB bumper.

I'm not going to bore you with all of the details of installing a Toytec lift, there are plenty of write-ups on here with that info. I will show some of the pics, however:

Here is the difference in the old and new; High Country Shocks (1 year old) with factory 99 coils and spacer VS Toytec coil over:

When I pulled the skid plate off I was a little surprised at the amount of dried mud!!:wow:

I have taken it for a ride and have now been offroad with it; It performs very good. I still have slight rubbing on my limited flares at full flex that I will need to fix, but I am pleased with it overall. Ride is good, and it looks good too :wink2:

My next steps in this build are to get the winch installed, then paint the new sport hood and flairs black.
