just wondering what vehicle model/year it is to suit? the scoop looks awesome and i would like something like that when i put a i/c on my 1kz. probably something i cannot source down here, but i hope i can shape something simular.

No updates to speak of....sorta.

I had knee surgery back in September, so that slowed me down.
Since Bow hunting season opened here in Illinois in October, and I am an AVID Bow-hunter, The 4 runner's time has been spent taking me to and from tree stands every free moment.

I was off last week, and in-between hunting I managed to get my BAMF sliders installed (tricky with the limited flairs and the kickout) but I don't have any pics right now, nor will I any time soon. Gun season opens this Friday, and over the next several weekends there is one form or another of hunting going on for me....then on Dec. 13 I will be having my other knee operated on....sooooooo.....I won't be spending much time working on the runner for some time

Plans include painting flairs (maybe...I keep going back and forth on this); getting my factory driving lights mounted in the ARB bumper, installing more driving lights on the roof rack($$) and the ARB.

This next summer I am planning at least one trip to the Weminuche Wilderness area in Colorado with my Daughter...this will be a BLAST (2200 miles round trip of pure awesomeness)

After the toytec ultimate and before the BL, what did you do to reduce or eliminate the tire rub? I'm about to order my toytec ultimate and new tires soon and am trying to figure out if I should go 285/75/16 or 265/75/16. A BL may be an option for me eventually.

Tire rub will depend on many factors. What rims? Which BRAND of Tire? Limited flairs? Wheel spacers?

I have the worst combination I believe in that I have limited flairs, and stock wheels that required wheel spacers. I STILL get rear tire rub at full flex

Illinois gun season for deer opened today.

I scored this 8 pt buck around 138. I got in my stand this afternoon at 1:30 and at 2:00 he showed up....now he goes on my wall.

I had to use the 4-runner & 4wd to go out to the field and get him...so now it is related to the forum

Nice Buck, man. Congrats on a successful hunt. We only have muley's out here so it's cool to see a whitetail every now and then.

That's crazy you were only in the stand for 1/2 hour, and done.

I post all kinds of fishing pictures in my thread, so I think you should feel free to post up your hunting pics... scenery and all. It's cool to see the things your 4Runner helps you get done.

Like the rig!

We've basically got the same rig man, like your setup. I plan to paint my flares and bumper when I get back in the spring too. The tan after a while looks fairly dull. I'm going with gold myself to match my SURF stickers; was thinking black at first but passed on that one. Good luck and look forward to more buildup on the truck!:keyboard:

Well, I decided to go hunt the NEXT morning from the same tree stand and at first light I shot an even bigger monster! He scores out at almost 150 :wow2:

In less than 24 hours I have killed two awesome bucks less than 70 yds awaty from each other.

God IS good.

Oh yeah, and there is 4-runner posing pics included :trophy:

Thanks everyone for the kind words. This year has actually been real bad for deer hunting, I have just been blessed. "Blue Tongue" disease has ravaged the deer population and because of the severe drought this year there has been almost an epidemic of a "gnatt" that goes into the deer's nostril and lays larvae and this also kills plenty of deer.

We usually hear around 100 or so gun shots by 7 am. This has been the norm each year for a very long time. This year we only counted 25 shots by 7 am. Deer just aren't around here because of the diseases right now.

On the plus side, The 4 runner has performed GREAT through all of the mud and rough terrain. Not one worry about getting stuck. Plenty of thumbs up. All my friends LOVE my runner.

Well, I finally finished my hunting season and was able to get surgery on my other knee. It was more involved than my rt. knee (torn meniscus). I had three 1 centimeter bone pieces removed from behind my ACL. Something called osgood schlatters ossicles. Anyway, since I am at home with nothing to do, I am planning a rear tire carrier that anyone can build and use with their stock bumper and tow hitch to make a clean install and better departure angle.

Please keep the tire carrier discussion there so anyone looking for ideas will find them in that thread.

It will be slow due to the fact that I JUST had surgery.

Well, I finally finished my hunting season and was able to get surgery on my other knee. It was more involved than my rt. knee (torn meniscus). I had three 1 centimeter bone pieces removed from behind my ACL. Something called osgood schlatters ossicles.

I tore my meniscus in my right knee late last year doing that ridiculous Insanity Workout. Had it checked out and Dr. said of the ways to tear it, it was a good tear cus it will heal. Wore a leg brace for a couple weeks. Both my knees still pop like crazy though due to being in cross country and track all through high school and college and sometimes it will give me some discomfort. I have that osgood shlatters whatever thing in my left knee and it hurts like hell when it gets hit. I was told it's from growing tall too fast when you younger. Ya know, I'm 26 and I'm really not looking forward to becoming a 40 year old who has to use a cane everywhere! lol

BTW, 4Runner looks great! I see your BAMF sliders hiding in the back of that picture with the massive deer. Anymore pics of those? Looks like you're building some d-ring shackle mounts? They look a bit too long though for that unless you cut them down haha.

Rear bumper build time

Ok, I REALLY love the new Outdoor Logic rear bumper. If they made it for a 1" body lift and had the rear tire carrier ready, I do believe I would pull the trigger on it. I have gone back and forth all week on just ordering it and modifying it to fit.

Not gonna happen.

It is time I built my own bumper, inspired by two people; :hail:BruceT over on Yotatech and :rockon:BanditRunner. I like how BruceT went about it, makes it look easy. I LOVE how Bandit Runner's has all of the angles and such, and I plan on combining what I like from both.

My plan is to incorporate a tire carrier similar to how Outdoor logic looks in their new bumper. Kind of like this pic. I will use a dual sheer design.

Thought I would share this;

When I went to pick up my sheet steel and 2"x4" rectangular tubing for my bumper, I got to see this machine in action. If you have never seen machines cut steel like butter, I recommend going to a shop like this and watching....it is pretty amazing to see.:jaw:
