My crank shaft pulley holder didn't work...

I got it apart. I used a sexy tool girl to aid me. She held the bar close to the pulley, to prevent the bending of the bolt.

It'll be some work to get it torque'd back to spec.

I did mine with 2 metal straps. One connected to the ps pump bracket and the other connected to the alternator. Was able to get 2 bolts in this way and I used grade 10.9.

Flipped the orientation when it came time to re-install and torque down.

I'm curious how those who are using the starter bump method are re-installing the bolt?

That's OK, you don't have to lie to us, we know she did the whole thing for you! We'll let you still keep your man points for finding the right person to do the job.

I'm curious why she is holding brake cleaner.

Follow Durk's DIY and cranking down to 217ft/lbs on the crank bolt should be no problem.

This may not be the best or correct way to take it off/put it on, but I wrapped an old bike tube around the pulley (for grip), then hooked a strap to the power steering pump bracket and wrapped it around the pulley. The wrap direction depends on if you are taking it off or putting it on. It worked perfectly for me.
