My first dumbass question!

Hi Folks,
I'm driving my first T4R. 2016 SR5 Premium. At 65 and with the reputations for longevity this auto has, I'm thinking it may be my last vehicle! lol
Anyway, to the dumbass question. This truck has selective 2 or 4 wheel drive. When in two wheel, the icon on the display shows the two FRONT wheels as the driving wheels. Is this so? If so, I think that's a truly great change from the traditional 2WD - rear wheels that I've been used to on all my trucks.
Nice to meet y'all. And thanks! :-)

I've never seen a front wheel drive body on frame truck, and for good reason.

Just trust us when we tell you to be happy that you 4runner has a solid rear axle and that is what makes it go in 2wd.

There should be no indication light on on your dash in 2wd....

In 4wd, there's a small green light that comes on.

That is true.. Unless they added something recently. Post a picture and show us what ICON you are talking about.

I think I know what he's referencing, it's the little icon on the center display.. I think it just appears that it's showing it in front wheel drive by happenstance.. I'll have to check when I get home. Either way yea to the original post, rear wheel drive or 4wheel drive.

From my understanding it is to show your wheel direction and any open doors.

Yep, the picture posted is what led me to think that 2WD was front wheel drive. Thanks to all for the clarification. I think the icon in that middle window is misleading.... especially for a newbie like me. Being an older guy, I like tradition, so I'm good with the 2WD being rear wheel drive like I've been used to!
Ride safe all.

Welcome aboard!

I'm 61 and tend to keep my vehicles for as long as possible, so this may be my last 4x4, if not last vehicle.

No dumb questions

My salesman dropped some stuff off and asked how I liked this front wheel drive suv:redface: I said great then he commented on the front of my house as he really like the wood look( it's all brick) ya real nice was my response, I can't wait to sell him some ocean front property in Arizona!
