My LED Project

What lights you were looking for?

Dome light - 3175 (31mm) clear

P.S. I did change those lights to LED at some point, but then those LED start to burn out. I think it was because the light is designed to switch on and off smoothly, not instantly and LED are not designed to work without full power.

I want to replace the front and rear dome lights by LEDs....

Ok. As I stated above, it didn't work for me with replacing the dome light over the front headrest and trunk dome light. Anyway, you can give it a try. Map lights worked out fine and no problem with them so far.

Map Lights - 194 clear
Dome Light - 3175 (31mm) clear
Trunk Light - 3175 (31mm) clear

Good luck. If you would have any questions, just PM me.

Most likely it was the wrong resistor that caused them to burn out. So too much voltage

LEDs can be used with any voltage within their 'turn on range'. As long as you don't go over they will be OK.

I've had some in mine running boards for over a year and haven't had any problems yet.

BAJARUNNER: im curious about how you changed all the display lights and gauge lights to blue and how hard was it and how long did it take??

also, my next project will be installing 2 leds into the front side of the sunroof switches(seemed like the right positioning) to shine down onto the shifter and console areas below. At the same time since they will be on the front side they wont be visible to me while driving so no distraction also the map lights block them from being seen out the front. I figure as long as i inset them enough and aim them right i should be fine.

does this make sense? like the accent lights shining down on the shifter in the GX470?

My friend's M5 got this. I like the idea.

good, so you'll help me then?:p

first of all do you think this is possible? i think the aiming and securing will be the hardest part. any ideas?

My idea for the wiring would be go ahead and buy 2 ready to go LEDs(not sure what color yet) and pick one that i could easily find a wiring harness for and i could stuff the wiring into the little compartment i never use and im not sure what its for so it must be for this!

Im not worried about running wires im just worried about the actual setup. For the wiring, i would wire it to the headlights so anytime my gauges dim or my headlights or parking lights are on, the LEDs would be on.
