My Matte Silver 4th Gen (lots of pictures!)

Well as some of you may know I decided to wrap my truck with vinyl. I debated for awhile between Matte Black and Matte Silver, but decided I wanted some contrast so I decided on the silver. The reason I decided to do this was twofold 1) To protect my paint from and further damage. If I ever resell this truck I want to be able to get it looking like it is in decent condition. And 2) to change up the look a little!

I had it done by Tint Factory here in LA ( Window Tinting Los Angeles | Tint Factory - 3M Authorized Window Film Dealer ) and used the new 3M 1080 Matte Silver Vinyl. I am extremely happy with the work they did and love the new look of my truck. I still need to paint and put back on some of the badges on the truck but here is how it sits currently. Also may wrap the Satoshi Grill or go back to the Factory style and wrap it- not sure yet. I had them add a 5% tint strip and 20% to the front windows. The rest of the truck was already 5%.

Lots of places leave a seem from putting the vinyl over the door handle. These guys took the handles off so there would be no seam

I like how the left the accents on the bumpers factory color

The hood scoop, you can sort of see how they had to overlay a few different pieces there

Door jam. When you have the doors close you can’t see the factory color at all

How much did this cost you?
How well does it hold up against normal stuff (washing, mudding, scratches)?
If you needed to replace it or even change the color is it easy to remove by the dealer?

As for how well it will hold it- I think it will do great. Mud, scratches and washing should not cause in problems. Also it should be no issues in brush and such, but i am sure if it gets a hard scrape against rocks it would tear but then again- I doubt paint would be doing great either. The nice thing is if anything serious every happens I can just re-vinyl one panel and it will be as good as new.

And I got hooked up price wise on this. I have a buddy at 3M who really helped me out. If you were to have this done normally it would be $3-3.5k. Most of the cost is labor.

And as for removing, it can be done on your own. It leaves no lasting damage and requires nothing special to take off, just patience and maybe a heatgun to speed up the process.

Oh, like the movie "taxi" where the rather nice looking bank robber women used a BMW in one color and then ripped the "skin" off to throw off the cops. hummm 3k doesnt sound that bad, considering you can return it to original color for free.

Kenny, they had my truck for a week to do this. They said the actual wrapping of the vehicle takes 3-5 days depending on the vehicle.
