My New '15 SR5 in Black & Build Thread

Ok so some of you may have seen my post about moving from Land Rover to 4runner...and yesterday it was done! I just couldn't wait to get rid of that electrical nightmare known as a Range Rover. The most beautiful looking and riding SUV on the market but I just never knew what kind of passive warning I was going to get when I started it up - got old REAL fast...

Anyway...in with the new - Attitude Black SR5, Graphite, with Navi/Entune no KDSS. Loving it so far though as most have already stated, the ride is a bit mushy with noticeable brake dive; to be fixed with 5100's. Really impressed with the build quality and the styling, which needs to be seen in person to appreciate. The Entune I find to be really neat without much lag at all.

Here I'll post updates as I do my build thread which won't be nearly as involved as some of the great builds here. I've got a set of 5100's @ 2.5 for the front and 5100's for the rear with a 1.5 spacer. Going to definitely stay with the 265's but unsure of stock wheels and Spidertrax or Level 8 MK6's. Also will be changing the Dunlops to Hankook Dynapro ATm.

Thanks for all the inspiring builds (including [MENTION=107769]Desert Dawg[/MENTION] and [MENTION=100417]J Hoss[/MENTION]) which helped me figure out that being back in a 4runner was the perfect platform to tinker with. A couple mandatory pics :dizzy:

Congrats on the new 4Runner...it looks great. I too got rid of my Range Rover once I started hearing about the issues after some miles, but always missed driving it and had some real fun off road as well. The 4runner definitely puts the "off road sport" back into owning a SUV. Looking forward to seeing your build progress!
 
Welcome back. Look forward to seeing what you have in store for your runner. Just like tattoos once you start you can't stop. :D
 
Thanks for the warm re-welcome guys...got a whopping 215 miles on it now and I must say it is great to be back in a 4runner. Noticed a bit more steering correction needed on the freeway compared to the Range, but oh what a feeling...a brand new J code Toyota 4runner. I'm liking it more each day.

Got my billies going on this Monday, now I need to order up the Level 8 MK6's or the FN 5 stars...anyone want to chime in with their .02 on this choice of wheels?? The 2.5/1.5 and wheels are going to set it off properly.
 
Bilstein lift on!

Phase One - complete! Installation of Bilstein 5100 front @ 2.5" and 5100 rear with 1.5" daystar spacer. Needless to say, it took this truck from a nose down "ordinary" driver to one that's level and proud! Also took out about 70% of the dive/roll/squat that plagues the non KDSS rides. Got some Level 8 MK6's in gunmetal on the way and then some 265 70 17 AT tires. I don't need to go up in size since this is mostly a commuting vehicle and I actually think it looks great with the stock size tires.

Looks great so far! I ran across your build thread after searching for a lift on stock tires. Did you have any alignment issues on your stock control arms?
 
As posted in the "what did you do..." thread, I got 265 70 17 Duratrac P metric on Level 8 MK6. Great tire so far, very faint and pleasant hum and they look really great.

I have 265/75-16 Duratracs on my Tacoma and they are great. Aggressive tread, look great, and they are pretty quiet as well. I like your setup a lot. I went from not wanting to do anything to wanting to a lift and get some better, stock tires now. there goes the money in the bank lol
 
Nice! I am going with the MK6 ET-10 in GM as well. How far do the rims stick out towards the fender flares? Do you experience any rubbing at full lock?

Looks awesome.. Are these the bronze or matte black? and these are 17x8 right?:cheers:
