I've been on Yotatech for about 7 years now, but have recently been on this forum a fair amount and decided it was time to join. Bought my 4runner bone stock back in 2004 and starting modding the day I brought it home. I'm really happy with the way it has turned out and don't have any major mods planned for the near future. My 285 MTZs are down to about 25% tread, so I'm planning to try to sell them locally and upgrade to a set of 315 KM2s sometime late spring or early summer. Here is a brief time line of the 4runner, with some current pictures at the end with my new CBI rear bumper and re-routed exhaust. Looking forward to being part of the forum!

Great looking 4runner, just checked out your build thread. You are the only other person I've seen with the CBI bumper without the tire carrier. To each his own, but I think the the overall look is a lot cleaner without the tire carrier, though I guess it's not quite as functional. I like the exhaust port, but I don't know how well it would work without a 2" or 3" body lift as I got the exhaust pipe routed between the frame and body and still had to cut away some of the lower body panel.
 
nice! i have the same yakima rack i was wondering what it would look like with a basket up there, thanks for the picture haha, what basket was that?

It was a Surco Safari basket, I think 40 x 45. I liked the setup but it was pretty high off the roof, probably added an extra 10" or more, and I needed to be able to get in parking garages so I went with something more low profile. I think the BajaRack or Yakima Load Warrior probably follow the lines of a 4runner a little better, the Surco was pretty square.

Thanks. Yeah, I love the standard bumper. I love upgrades that usually don't go noticed, even though the red shackles doesn't help :P

Tire carrier is cool, but it's a little too expensive and impractical for my Southern California 90% on road driven daily driver.

I was really debating the exhaust cut out, but I was told that the body needed to be cut into. My mind started going $$$$$$$ for exhaust finagling so I went without. Looks good though!
