My stock Limited rubbing with 265/70R/17 BFG A/T KOs???

I've got a 2011 Limited with stock suspension. When I bought it, I negotiated with the dealership to have the 20" wheels swapped for SR5 17"s. I recently put 265/70R/17 BFG All-Terrain KOs on them and the front wheels rub when I back out of parking spaces---not even at full turn.

The tires on the vehicle before the BFGs were the same size, but they were highway slicks. The BFGs have more aggressive tread, but they're the same dimensions. After researching the forum here, I thought I could for sure get the BFGs on without any rubbing issues. I see people on here talking about running 285s stock. Unfortunately, my 265s rub.

They look great and I can put up with it, but I thought I'd report to the rest of the group in case any of you are considering those particular tires.

Get an alignment done, and ask for maximum caster. Which will vary, but when I had mine done, I believe it was around +/- 3.0. The caster will pull your wheels forward and should solve your problem. Thing with them being the same size is just that the size is kind of a generic ballpark area. Different tread styles such as a H/T and an A/T will have different tolerances in the mold of the tire and will be a little larger or smaller depending on what you get.

Try the liner mod? I also just took the little plastic mud flap off the rear of the wheel well. Two clips and a screw. My 285s no longer rub on my stock limited.

Thanks for the responses. I got it aligned when they put the tires on, but I was not aware that I could manipulate the caster---don't know much about that topic.

I suppose I could look into the wheel-well liner mod.

Overall, I think I was just surprised at the rubbing, as I figured I'd have no issues running that size tire. Now I know and so do those reading...

You don't say if it's rubbing at the front, back or both. If its' rubbing at the back then having them set the caster to +4 should solve that. If it's rubbing at the front then the wheel well liner mod should solve that. If you have the caster kicked up to +4, then you'll probably need to do the wheel well liner mod. Doing the mod takes less than 1hr.

Best approach: Do the wheel well liner mod, if that solves the rubbing your done (at least until you put bigger tires on). If that doesn't solve the rubbing then have it aligned with the caster set to +4.

Thanks for clarifying that a bit GrantK. It's only rubbing in the front when I cut the wheel, so I should be good with the liner mod.
