I am currently in the same boat. I have my 98 DD which is in excellent shape but i could not pass up a great deal on an 03 tacoma 5 speed that reminded me of my previous 97 3rd gen.

Hard to justify modding the tacoma when the 4runner is in such better shape however I dont wanna kill my dd on the trails so my biased vote is to keep both!

I drove a 99 wrangler 4cy manual for years. This fall I just got tired of it. It's loud, hot in the summer and my family (wife and 3 kids) just doesn't fit in it. I got a good deal on it years ago, about half of book value, so no regrets I was just past the jeep phase. Just no useful to my needs.

This fall I started looked, I've always loved the 4runner 3rd gen body style and found one for a good deal so I grabbed it. Never sold the jeep. So now I have 3 vehicles, which is just stupid.

I can keep one for a trail/camp vehicle and I really am trying to decide between the jeep and the 97 runner. I'm leaning heavily on keeping the runner and having 2 of them even though I can get more $ for the runner than the wrangler.

Jeep thing

Ive done the wrangler thing and they certainly are fun but not nearly as reliable or comfortable as Ive found both my 4runners to be which is saying a lot considering the first one was beat on hard.

I'd say go for the 4runner. Room, comfort and likely more capable. I remember a night or two with a tow strap to my brother in the wrangler. I dont like the tacoma nearly as much as my runner either. I might have to sell it to fund the 4runner build!

I put the poor man's lift on this morning. Nothing new to members of this forum but I sure do like the slightly more aggressive look it gives.
