Mytoy4 Satoshi Grille Mod

Mytoy4 how well has your grill held up? Is that mesh pretty durable like for instance if gravel or something pops up from the road and hits the grill? Awesome work by the way, I'm looking to do this mod soon.
 
It holds up great! I've been through heavy rain up to 80MPH; on gravel roads; off roading; and even in an accident with front end damage.
With the accident, it broke the grille frame but the mesh was just bent. I bent it back and rebuilt the whole thing.
I also think that putting the primer on as well as the paint helps it hold up.

edit: This was a pic of the font end damage and then after it was fixed.

It's hard to tell how much it was bent in this picture. It wasn't a whole lot because the impact wasn't directly on the grille.

Terri, you did a super write-up and your grille looks terrific. Thank you.

One thing I would like to know is how the emblem attaches to the grille.

I have a silver '07 Sport and if I can find a reasonably priced grille in the same body color, I may give this a try.
 
Thank you! The emblem actually came with 3 short nubs on the backside to screw it on.

Been reading this thread like a bible haha, attempting this modification tomorrow after work. Bit nervous to cut my grill up though :redface:
 
Went relatively well, i had about 4 very brittle plastic stand offs behind the metal bottom rail that broke just by unscrewing their self tapping screws. Had to repair and i did some other mods to it but it is very stiff now. Anyways here are my results:

probably 5 hours or so of actual working, then letting the epoxy on those standoffs cure overnight and part of the next day about for about a total of 18 hours. I used really heavy duty epoxy tho, could have gotten away with less im sure. More pics in my build
 
Wish these weren't $250 bucks, would love to see the large center bar with the Toyota molded into one of our grills. I don't know why but I think it would look awesome. (I am new maybe its been done already)
