Napa vs Centric 5th Gen Calipers

Doing the front brakes. I have 5th gen Centric rotors and OEM pads. Id like to use Napa because of the lifetime caliper warranty; however, I was looking for input based on user's experiences.

Not sure how soon you need the info but, in a few weeks or so, I'll be taking off a Napa caliper that I have been running for about 2 years and I can give you some feed back on long term use. I am doing a full 5th gen swap as well. I don't think I have an issue with the Napa caliper, it's just time for new brakes all around.
 
NAPA was nothing short of a bad experience. Sold me cheap rotors and called them premium rotors. Another one told me they had my rotors in stock, went their drove an hour, they didn't . Every time I called I got a different price, couldnt reserve online despite what their site said.

Centric seemed pretty good. There is a youtube video showing their repair process. seems very comprehensive. I'd go with Centric 142 series btwn the two, as its guaranteed to have everything new and it painted.

I would take a look into Advics, one of my mechanics told me they are the OEM caliper manufacture. googling them it seems like they are.

I think people who say they have done 4th gen caliper twice probably got a crap refurbed caliper. Lot of them seem to point to napa. Not proving anything, but that is what I noticed here.
 
I have the 5th gen setup. Centric front calipers with Centric rotors and NAPA premium pads. Rear calipers are NAPA, with mid-grade NAPA rotors and pads. No issues at all other than a little squeal still from the pads in the rear, wished I would have gone with the premium pads in the rear instead of mid-grade. The Centric calipers were unpainted and the NAPA ones came painted, so I need to sand/paint the fronts yet.

I was going to get 5th gen NAPA calipers. Based on what you said, you're running their 4th gen calipers.

Yes, that is correct. I'd be fairly certain that their re-manufacturing process and hardware quality is the same for both types. IMO, the hardware and tolerances that are used in the re-man process is what is critical, not so much the caliper body itself. Most of the bodys are Toyota anyway. Just though it might be useful.
 
Keep in mind, Napa shops are their own franchise. Each one is run differently. The guys at the Napa I go to are on point. In regards to the painted Napa calipers, after 2+ years the paint is still holding up. It's not glossy or anything, but it's definitely not rusted.
 
Went with Centric. I saw evidence of rusting rears but not fronts. Do people recommend painting them?
 
I just changed all 4 of my brakes (pads and rotors). I bought centric pads and rotors from rockauto. Centric rotors are already painted.

That's good to know. I'm specifically asking about the need to paint the front centric calipers.
 
You can paint them or not. If they are unpainted / uncoated they will rust (cosmetic) so if you don't mind that leave them. Otherwise paint them. You don't have to get fancy Hi-temp paint. These calipers don't get hot even when they're frozen. The ROTORS will though...

I went centric and I wish I had painted my calipers or bought the pre painted version.

Within a few months they turned orange/ brown. The thought of pulling them off just to wire brush and paint gives me hives.

It doesn't look like they offer prepainted front calipers.
