NC Deer Season!

Got my 4Runner, going out hunting on the farm/property in Fuquay-Varina. Will use this thread to post pictures (season doesn't start until tomorrow)! Anyone else going hunting/have tips for what I could do with my runner/etc? I have an open trailer to carry my junk since I learned my lesson putting stuff in the trunk (scratches and dirt EVERYWHERE)!

I keep a tarp under the back seats that I throw in the back whenever I have some dirty stuff to throw back there. Does rifle open for y'all tomorrow or primitive weapons?

I keep cloth game bags on the back and have my Pelican cooler. I will quarter out a deer right there in the field, throw the meat in the cloth bags and right in the cooler. The dull cap goes in a trash bag. No mess in the T4R!

I keep cloth game bags on the back and have my Pelican cooler. I will quarter out a deer right there in the field, throw the meat in the cloth bags and right in the cooler. The dull cap goes in a trash bag. No mess in the T4R!

How much is one of those coolers? I don't have a big cooler, last year when we all went out hunting we kind of did a crappy job and brought like 5 medium sized ones haha. Great pic btw! Looks like an awesome kill and location!

I got a Pelican 45 Quart cooler - No problem fitting one of our little mule deer in there after its quartered out.

This guy was dispatched with a 12 Gauge. Two shots since I really hate snakes.

Went Lee Harvey on this one from my daughters room. .22 but took a few as I walked the rounds into his nasty hole digging ass!

I was going to call you know who but based on his track record.......

Sadly, I was too busy changing my undies to get a shot of / at the black bear sitting next to the garage. Must of been a 4R fan.

I was leaving early, and I was like, oh yess I'm gonna go pop like 2 of them, oh wait nvm it's not Saturday yet. And when we live on the farm during hunting season (it's only like 25 mins away), there's so many more. And off topic, nice dog, we have a chocolate lab!

Well good luck! Open gun for us doesn't open until next weekend. Primitive weapons opens tomorrow.

Socal, The bags and cooler isn't a bad idea at all!

I've got this big guy on my camera a few times, and I'm hoping to get lucky and get a shot on him this year. Had a HUGEEE 10 point two years ago that I was hunting for, and found out the deer was shot by some night hunters around here.

Really unsuccessful weekend. Was hoping not to come empty handed, but all the deer were so small it just wasn't worth taking a shot at them. There was one decent sized one, but of course I choked (metaphorically) while I was shooting and scared that one off.

Maybe next weekend?

I've been hunting quite a bit since gun season opened up, but havent seen anything worth a shot so far. I keep a hitch haul in the the back on the off chance I shoot something, so that I don't have to put it in the 4R. Just Field dress and throw it on the hauler till I get home to finish cleaning it.

So far this year my sons and I have done dove and quail in Yuma Arizona. We also own property in the great state of Missouri ( I live in liberal anti- hunting Kalifornia) for archery deer.

Any bow hunters?

Last year we did hog hunting in Texas with a knife.

Oh man California..... I've tried bow hunting, but it just ended with me really really irritating after failing very badly. Hog hunting sounds fun though! I went dove hunting with 15 other friends during our one week break in September, let me see if I can find the picture of all of our doves in the back of his pickup.

HAHAH, well.... that is a pretty decent sized deer by Southern Cal. standards... I have seen the deer out there in Texas... trust me, I am jealous.

I ended up with a nice doe and a little 3x2 buck. Have pics to post later.
