So i picked up a pretty nice 99 sr5 4x4 last night, its definelty going to need a windshield to pass safety inspection. Anyone know of a good (cheap) place? This is my second runner that I will mainly use just for fun. I would much rather just have the broken windshield as is and save the cash lol...

I didnt wanna make a new thread and maybe we could get some answers for the both of us? I was wondering if anybody could give me a rough price on getting it replaced, a factory one is 756$ for the glass alone,
My windshield starts to whistle at me at about 80mph, mine isn't factory as it is and it has a chip repair already right in the middle of where the driver see's through and its kinda annoying. any help would be appreciated!

Safelite AutoGlass® - Windshield Repair & Replacement

I did mine several years ago with Safelite. Professional job, glass looked same as OEM, and no leaks or other issues. Price then was a little over $200 installed, and they did it in my driveway. Gonna be more now. Fill out the web page, and get a quote.

I just put a windshield in my 99 last week , call around and should be able to get it for under $200 . Safelight wanted $230 , I found a company to do it for $170 cash ! Came and did it in my driveway , came out perfect . Took them about 30 mins.

check groupon.com there are sometimes deals available. I got the windshield in my '97 replaced for around $100 if I recall.

I just recently Got my windshield replaced. I used the $100 insurance deductible. SafeLite came out to me and replaced it. I think the full price was around 250 with the taxes and disposal fees etc. Did an amazing job and they even put a better version of the rubber trim around the glass.

My local glass guy would replace it with a new windshield for about $200. I know that factory glass is high, and that does not matter what car brand you are trying to get the glass through, but the replacement glass in the windshield shops is a lot cheaper and just as good of quality. In my area, you can choose glass made in the U.S. or glass made in Mexico.

Several years ago I had glass replaced in my 85' 4Runner and it was about $150. The $200 that you guys are mentioning seems pretty good. I know my 2000 needs a new windshield. (amoung other things) A guy in my 4x4 club does auto glass for a living so he will get my business.

280$ is the online quote installed that isnt bad at all i was thinking closer to 4-450. did you tip the guy?

I don't remember exactly. I think I did, as I liked him. Yankee fan like me. I did give him a cold drink and we talked baseball a little when he was done. Big, scary looking black guy from Newark who could not have been any nicer.

The glass was Crinamex from Mexico, which is cheap aftermarket but I got a good piece. No chips after six years while the original had at least three in seven years doing exactly the same driving. It's been hit by rocks off trucks, too. No distortion or anything like that, either.

Ya, just call around some local shops. I'm pretty sure the OEM glass in green, but I went with bronze because it was $179 installed, and green OEM was $600+. Then insurance covers the first $100, so I was only out $79 total (and the place gave us a $15 gift card to Olive Garden!).
