if you can afford too, buy one that has most of the mods you want. all the extras will add up very quickly & leave you broke. As an example: I see rigs all the time where someone spent 10K or more building there dream rig. Then after all the time & $$$ run into financial issues or have a baby & have to sell it. They usualy end up getting 50 to 75% of what they spent building it. No mader the price range it always holds true. You never get back what you put into them. (well at least 90% of the time)
Also try to find one with a recent motor rebuild. (unless you can do it your self & know you can do it right.) If it needs rebuilt its going to cost you more than you think. There is always some unforeseen expense: a part you didnt think you would need, an upgrade, something that brakes, or what ever.
I have almost $4000 my 3.0 motor rebuild. I didnt plan on spending that much! But as it came apart the plugs stripped out of the head, several exhaust studs broke off, bolts & nuts stripped, most hoses were so old & brittle that they broke or cracked, clutch was almost worn out, Flywheel needed resurfaced (bought a new one as it was $30 more & the old one was close to not being able to resurface), Had to have the radiator cleaned out, Needed tuns of cleaner to get everything clean before reinstall, etc, etc, etc.......
If i were to sell the rig, Id never get that $$$$ back. But thats OK, as I intend to keep it for many years!)
