Need bigger tires!

There's lot of people on here running that same size stock. You'll need to do either the fender liner trick or cut the liner. I cut mine when I went up to 285s only cause I cut before I remembered the fender liner trick. Also, the type of tire will dictate how much rubbing you get. You'll most likely rub more with a more aggressive M/T rather than a H/T.
What kind of tire are you looking at?
Also, if your running wheel spacers, you will rub on your body mounts even with max caster on your stock UCAs (well atleast I did).

There is no definitive yes or no answer unless you copy someone else's exact set-up . Even then there is a factory tolerance of 2 degress for caster which locates the wheels forward or aft.
Which model? They have different inner fender liners and does it have mud flaps?
Which 285/70/17 tires?They are not all the same as some,like AT or MT's have bigger side lugs that will rub ,where more of a street 285 tread might not. Plus not all manufactures 285's are exactly the same size and have tolerances.
More then likely,minor fender liner modding will be the least you will have to do to prevent rubbing with 285's ,no lift.
275/70/17's will fit with no rubbing or modding at all but only a few tire choices.
It's an SR5 model with mud flaps the tires I want to use are BFG A/T. I most got the the vehicle and don't know what the inner fender trick is. I already have the tires that's why I want to know if they will work out

Hi Harper, I actually got very minor rubbing w/ my 275/70/17 MTRs. And that was with my OW lift and 4 degrees of caster! Of course, the fender mod would easily fix that. I never did the mod until I put on my 285 DuraTracs, and then it was really necessary!
No rubbing now, thanks again for those old photos you posted. I had printed them and it made the mod easy peasy lemon squeezy :surfer:

275/70R17 BFG A/Ts here, no rubbing at all, that was before lift and with 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. To allow for wheel travel on a stock 4runner that is the biggest tire I would run with no cutting, trimming, lifting, etc...
Sure you can fit 285's stock but you will get rubbing when turning lock to lock and under articulation of the wheel/tire. The 275 BFGs have been great, 40,000 miles on them and still have good tread left.
