Need brighter fogs.

I think I wanna get brighter fogs now that I have HID lows. I wanted to find out what yall recommended as far as brighter bulbs. Should I go halogen, or get HID? If either could you recommend a brand please? I figure if HID fogs was appropriate, a good inexpensive set would be a good idea I think.

If you don't wanna go to HID, then I'd say pick up a new set of fog bulbs and see if those help the light output. Personally, I prefer Sylvania XFE if I am getting anything non-HID. Other people have their preferences and this is just mine.
I recently upgraded to HID for my fogs, literally 2 days ago, and I love em. I got the DDM Tuning 35W Slim Ballast 5000K (9006) bulbs. They're slightly more blue than I anticipated however I have only taken it out at night once since I put them in.. I would definitely say that they increased the light output from the stock fogs I had originally.

It seems the stock bulbs put out decent light but they look so dim looking at the car. It appears you can even see the reflector. I think I would prefer the HIDs unless anyone has any cons that stand out. How much did your setup cost Snowbrd?

Did you have to mod the fog housing at all to make the HIDs fit?
 
NO mod needed for the HID Fogs. I have an 05 Limited, if that means anything to you. To be honest, the hardest part is figuring out where to mount the ballast as the connector from the truck to the ballast is short and the wiring for the HIDs doesn't help anymore either.
I had to mount each of them differently to make them fit and I have big hands, so that made it more difficult to fit both of them underneath and work with zip-ties.
I highly recommend it, very easy to do, literally plug n play. But do realize that on my truck, I had reverse polarity.

Cost me $35 for the HIDs from DDM and then shipping was a little extra. I wasn't about to fork over anymore money for HIDs from someone else and DDM has lifetime warranty too.
 
Stronglu recommend 43k HIDS in the fogs you will love them!! Just make sure who ever has them theat they have warranty on em and u can actually call someone for assistance...

Those DDM's are priced right! I spent some cash on my Denso's for the lows so I think I am going to get these. So I think the 4500k and 9006 bulbs are appropriate, but what about the rest? 35 or 55 watt, HID harness, and error eliminator???

Go with the 35W (those are sufficient power for the fogs & don't want them to get too hot & melt the plastic), plus the 35W is the slim ballast so it's easier to mount and slip into tight spots in the engine bay.
You should not need the error eliminator (I didn't) but you may want to call them and check first, which is what I did before I ordered. You need the slim ballast, don't need the HID harness, or adapter cables. DO get the 9006 bulb and whichever K you want (I went with 5000K).


EDIT: I realized I said earlier that I got the raptor ballast HID kit, but I actually did NOT get this - I got the slim ballast kit.
 
ALSO: note when you order through DDM it comes from China, so it does take about 2 weeks or so before you will have the kit in your hands.
 
I look up to Uneek as a great resource for lighting. So I have the Xenondepot kits for my low beams and fogs. Even though quality doesnt seem to be an issue for the DDM guys, peace of mind was the deciding factor in my decision. I went with the more expensive Xenondepot kits, and havent regreted it yet. 4300k Phillips kits for low, and 4300k xtreme kit for fogs. Either color/temp is a great uprgrade.

Ya I think I will take a peek at those...$120 isnt bad either. I'm still curious about the relay though and whether it's necessary for the fogs or not.
 
Not sure man. Xenon Depots lights never gave me any problems. Thats what I know. I'm about to order a set for my beater car and my fiances 2012 VW GLI. Didnt even think about ordering another brand. I may order the 3000k for her fogs though. Do your research and choose what makes you comfortable.
 
I'm running Hoen Endurance yellow fogs and like them a lot. I have a new set of PIAA 540 fogs on the way to mount to my bull bar. I'm excited and will post pics when they arrive.
