Need dealer suggestion

I'm looking for a 2014 or 2015 sr5 premium 4X4 with third row. I went to my local dealer in Boulder, Colorado (Larry Miller) and they wouldn't budge off of the MSRP of $39,200. I offered $37,200 and they didn't even counter! I have financing already lined up and don't have a trade. I figure I should be able to find a dealer willing to take $37,200. Any suggestions on dealers? Is there a way to easily send out my offer to dealers on the internet? I'm willing to travel to pick it up if I have a deal in writing.

During my search (using USAA Certified dealers), I had zero luck with 3 of the front range dealers (despite one salesman working his butt off trying to get what I wanted via trade). After much a-do...I looked on AutoTrader, found one in Bozeman, MT. Went back online to USAA and sure enough, that dealer was a USAA Certified dealer.

So, while I can't guarantee a deal will be made, I can attest to a VERY easy buying experience. Nothing showing currently, but that doesn't mean they won't have one coming in soon.

I just did a search on Auto trader for 14-15 SR5 Premium with 3row 4wd /awd ...

... 5 within 500 miles. 4 of 5 were in $36'ish range (asking price).

I have purchased new 4Runners from both Mountain States and Pederson.

My last purchase was a huge PITA and I spoke with a rep from every dealer in Colorado. My local dealer (Pederson) was the only one that was willing to make the deal happen. I have used Truecar for every one of my car purchases (9 cars over that last 6 years) and have been very happy with my results.

I will say that Pederson gave me a great deal and ordered me exactly what I want since there wasn't a single one in the US. Hit up Truecar.com, price it out to give an idea of what kind of deals are to be had, then start calling dealers to see who bites. There are enough Toyota dealers in CO that you should be able to get the deal you want....it will just take some time and patience.

I went to Go in centennial, they wanted to deal but had no limited to even sell me, then went over to groove, they had a limited and were negotiating but didn't have the color I wanted. So I took the price from groove and called the internet guy at mountain states, he matched, I drove up and home with it a couple days later. I was so happy to get rid of my grand Cherokee given the issues I didn't argue much on the price but it was still a reasonable trade in offer given a minor accident and what blue book was on it.

You've got enough options, look around, between the internet, usaa, and costco you should be able to get something going.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I was able to locate a 4x4 2015 SR5 Premium with third row in the color that I wanted (mag grey) at Bountiful Toyota (Utah). They gave me the truecar price (a bit over $37k) without any hassle. I'm flying out on Saturday to pick it up. J. Chritianson of Bountiful Toyota was easy to deal with, if anyone else is in the same bind.

I'll post my first pics this weekend (hopefully some nice shots driving through the mountains back to Colorado).

Call Donald Skarzenski 281-374-5171 and tell him that Michael with the 2014 Unlimited suggested you talk to him about the "H Plan" its like $200 over invoice.

I hope the time and cost of the plane ticket and gas back doesnt short circuit your hopes of saving a few extra hundred bucks...

The road trip will be worth it, enjoy, and if by chance you stop and go off-road, take pics for us!

Valid point, and one that I considered. But I'm saving about $2,000 off the price of the car plus another $170 in taxes. So I'm "up" $2,170. The flight was $150 and I figure gas will run about $150, so I'm left with $1,870. Of course I'll have 600 miles on my brand new truck and a wasted Saturday, but I'd rather have the $1,870.

And there are other, non-monetary, reasons to buy from the dealer in Salt Lake. First, as Jhalko mentioned, it should be a nice drive through the mountains on a beautiful September day. Second, I'll get the truck a month earlier than waiting for my local dealer. And third, I just like doing business with people that seem fair and up front about everything. I think my local dealer was acting like a stereotypical dealership (making me wait while they checking everything with a manager, trying to get me to negotiate against myself, talking out of both sides of their mouth), while the dealership in Utah seemed fair and reasonable and not interested in playing games.

I'll make sure to post a few pics. Probably no offroading yet, but maybe a fire road or two. Can't wait to start the modding.

Congrats on the coming purchase, Forwheeler!

I, too, am searching for a 4WD Premium w/3rd row, though we probably won't buy for another few weeks or month at least. I agree, they are scarce!

I found a couple (now down to one) at Olathe Toyota near Kansas City.

I have zero experience with this dealership at all, but wanted to throw this out there for others who may visit this thread: they offer lifetime/unlimited miles powertrain warranties as standard with any new Toyota/Scion (and some used) vehicle purchased.

Again, they could be a crummy dealership, but that's probably the first place I'll look if we decide to buy a 4Runner. (They're a bit closer to me than you though!) :thumb:

Congrats on the upcoming purchase!

Just remember to vary your RPM and speed, don't just set the Cruise on the way home!

just say'n :)

Be apprised, I bought my 4R in MT. No taxes were taken out, as they don't do that for any "out of state" purchases.

Once I had all my paperwork (VIN verification, [signed copy of] Loan Docs, Title Application, I had to pay the Sales Tax + License plate fees. Definitely need to move to remote mountain location, because Adams County KILLED me...

$3713.67 was my total for taxes + plates (plates were about $500 of that cost).

Only good from this is that I paid my taxes myself and did not finance 'em (like I did a few times as a young [and dumb] adult.

Thanks. I plan to just pay the taxes in cash as I am selling my current car (2009 Infiniti G37) to Carmax on friday. They are giving me $18,000, which was thousands more than any dealer offered me on a trade. So I'll have the scratch to pay the taxes and license fee. If anyone is considering trading in their car/truck, I suggest going to Carmax first. It was a really good experience and they gave me a great price, no commitment. And yes, I get killed with taxes here in the People's Republic of Boulder -- but its worth it.

Grew up west of Boulder, know it ALL too well! Was at Pearl Street Mall the day it opened, as an assignment for my French class (we had to interview people on the street, 100% in French). Sucked when I happened on two people from Lyon, France...who spoke so damn fast I could barely understand what they were saying! LMAO

Congrats on a new Runner. Yes, you'll need the $1870 saved to pay interest on financing it and not paying cash.

I am a new owner of a 2015 SR5 Premium w/ third row. The drive from SLC to Denver area war actually pretty nice. I took it slow and made sure to vary my speed. I got off the highway every 30 miles to cycle through the gears. The truck has 500 miles on it now, but it was a nice way to get to know it. Below are a few pics of the drive home.

Found this thread and figured it best to post back here rather than starting a new thread. Will make a new user introduction in a bit here, but first:

Looking to buy a 2015 TEP in sunny So Cal(San Diego to be exact). I was wondering if anybody had any good experience with any dealerships in particular, or any salesmen. I really love the Barcelona red, but black wouldn't be too shabby either, and I definitely want to take advantage of some end of year incentives I'm sure will be lurking around. Please let me know if anybody either knows a good salesman, or some good year end incentives being offered on the runners. I've seen them go for as low as $35,000 and this would be great if I could negotiate to this. Thanks guys!

I drove my TE from So Cal to Texas last year. Due to an accident it is projected to be totaled, and Im getting ready to do the same thing again (just not in Cali--that state sales tax was rough!)
