so if im posting in the wrong spot someone let me know ok? Lol, thanks! anyways, Im Gilbert from the high desert in Cali. A friend of mine works at a towing yard and he called me when this white '93 4runner came up for sale. I was pretty stolked, it was clean, sounded good, and my wife liked it, which was a huge deal, lol. I bought it as is, and drove it home. about a block before i got home, I stopped at a stop light, the car let out a couple gurgle-like sputters and died. It started right back up, but as soon as I got to the next stop light it died again. got it home a friend of mine said to just turn up the idle so I did and it seemed to stop it from turning off. Now I am by no means a master mechanic. Im very handy and mechanically inclined, meaning if Im told what needs to be replaced, I can do it with no problem. When I went to get it smogged 2 weeks later, the guy told me that the timing was just off a bit and the idle was too high. after fixing this on the spot, it passed smog without issue, but then died again, like before, on the way home. so I just raised the idle again but it just doesnt feel right. I replaced the fuel filter as a precaution but no one can seem to give me any sort of answer as to why its doing this. It also seems to struggle a bit when going up certain hills. can anyone point me in the right direction on this? it also has an issue starting from a cold start at times, meaning it 'click clcks' then i try it again and it usually starts right up. lol, I know im really laying this out and there could be a mess or different possibilities...I just need someone that knows cars to sorta point me in the right direction, lol. I wont even go in to the problem of the electrical issues im having yet...thats another post. any advice or someone to sorta help me trouble shoot would greatly appreciated!
