I'm currently in talks with a dealer (Longo Toyota)to get a 2010 4R Trail it's got 40k miles and they are asking $37,000!!!

My questions are
1. Did this 4R belong to someone on this forum and if so how much did they give you for it on trade in?
2. What would be a fair offer? It's got kds and the nav unit/jbl audio...

Not sure what a fair price would be but I just bought a brand new 2013 TE from Cabe in Long Beach for $37,800. What color are you looking for?

Mag grey TEs are a dime a dozen, keep looking for a better deal on a used one, or maybe wait and see what you can get on a new 2013 once the 2014s hit the showroom floor :)

Fairly new used 4runners are a ripoff IMO because they hold their damn value so well, lol.

I agree there are alot around my problem is they are not all in SoCal...lol Im gona try to get them to come down to 31K since there are similarly equipped 4R Trails at that price.

Hopefully this link works. It looks like there are 7 brand new Gray TEs in the LA/OC area.

New Toyota Inventory Search

Get a truecar price quote and shop it around.

A new 4R trail is out of my price range =(

I've seen new TEs for less than $37k, you are getting ripped off. Try carmax.

Carmax will be even a bigger rip off. They used to be be quite competitive on pricing but lately it seems that are typically $4-5K higher than private sellers and do not negotiate on price.

To the OP, as others have said $37K is way too high.

Just go straight to the manager, bypass the sales guy, and ask them point blank why in the world they think you'd pay close to $37k for a used and out of warranty 4Runner when a new one can be had for literally about $1500 more??? You may also want to consider allowing yourself to travel to find a better deal...

Alternatively, don't even sweat the dealer. When they call to follow up just tell them their prices are unrealistic.

I have a new, fully eqipped (KDSS, Entune) TE I bought for 500 dollars more a few months ago.

You're getting ripped off.

I wish I could find the person who traded it to them!!! If they are on here we need to talk! Help me find this guy.

Why do you care so badly? Finding out how much it got traded-in for is not going to make a difference to the dealer selling it. They will just dance around and explain to you all the overhead and extra costs they needed to put into it to make it into "retail condition".

Don't be so fixated on this one exact 4runner just because it fits your criteria, you're going to end up getting ripped a new one if you approach this too desperately. There are PLENTY of them out there just keep looking!

Hey Eddie I agree with what you're saying. Im not stuck on this one. Im down to drive 500 miles to salt lake city to get a better priced 4runner... Its just the dealer has only had this one for about a week and if they payed 27 28 29K for it on trade in then I can try to get it for 30 but if they payed 35K for it then ill hop in my car and drive to Utah.

^^If it was me, I would just offer them 30k take it or leave it and then walk if they don't bite. The way it see it is if they want to make the sale they will make sale, if not then whatevers, don't think too much :) Good luck on the search!

Thanks brotha
