Need help choosing Tires...

Hey fellas, I need help choosing tires for my 2000 4runner.

I want to go with the biggest tire (with in reason) that I can get away with having stock gearing.

Its lifted 3inches front and rear. Has the stock 16inch alloy wheels. It also has custom front and rear bumpers which really opened up the wheel wells.

Im planning on using wheel spacers I just want to find the right combination of tire size/spacer size.

let me know what you guys are running. Pics would be awesome. Ill try to get some up of mine so you can see what im working with.

So many tire threads out there. With my lift I went with 305/70r16. Sits 33" tall and pretty much as wide as a 315 or 35" tire. I love how it looks and sits and always get compliments on my truck. Way more now than I did with 285's. Get a little tire rub here and there mainly when offroad. Just got her aligned they they added way to much caster so now it rubs in front of the tire when backing out in reverse and turning but I am going to have the shop fix that. Here is a pic of me in the snow with my wifes dog and another comparing a worn out 285 vs my new 305's.

oh wait sorry It says at the bottom you have 1.25inch spacers. how do you like that? would 1.50 be too much?

I'm not an expert, but I was in a similar situation with a ~3 in lift (ss 1.2) and no body lift, though I had stock bumpers. From what I remember, your options are 285/75 (~33in x ~12.5) with spacers or 255/85 (~33in but more narrow) without spacers assuming you don't want rubbing. With rubbing or trimming you can obviously go a lot larger.

At a high level, the trade-offs between the two options above seemed to be 1) looks - do you hate the narrow profile? do you hate that the wider ones will stick out and 2) 255/85 is probably marginally better for overland and MPG driving but wider better for mud and intense rock crawling.

again - that's a quick summary from memory but there are a ton of threads that go into a lot of detail on this exact question.

You have to remember the more spacer the more the tire pushes out and has a chance to hit the fender when wheeling. With the 1.25" spacer the tire rubs a little, before on 285's it cleared pretty good.

Spacers ride fine if installed correctly.

I have 285/75/16 and I like it. Little rub when turned all the way. But other then that I think it fits the truck perfect. I need new tires and I'll end up getting same. And I don't need no spacers. Spacers is nice, but puts little more stress on axles,LBJ also.

Sorry for stupid questions, I'm new to the game. I have a pretty small OME lift in the front, and am looking at getting new tires. Been toying with the idea of going up to a 17 wheel size, but would it be wiser to stay with 16 and just get a bigger tire? '00 sr5

It's really personal preference. I think 17" wheels look better on our trucks but a big tire on a recessed 16" wheel looks cool too. If you upgrade to the larger Tundra brakes (highly recommended) most 16" wheels wont fit over them but all 17" wheels will.

I got it with Tundra brake upgrade in the front, it's running on 265 70 16s right now. Didn't realize that brake upgrade makes it harder to fit 16s. That's good to know.
