Need help deciding which replacement speakers to buy

I have an 05 without JBL without RDS and currently have the Scion T1809 head unit. Without replacing the HU at this time, which speakers would be the best replacement speakers to buy to get the most quality sound without adding a sub to the picture? I would love to add a sub later but don't want to give up the space in the cargo area right now. I listen to a pretty wide variety of music (Texas country, Emenime, Black Eyed Peas, Matallica, Top 40 etc.) so something that can thump when needed Is it possible to have awesome sound as if you had a sub by just replacing the factory speakers and twitters? Would I want to add an amp that just supplies more power to the replacement speakers?

I like JL Audio products. Very good product for the money. Boston Acoustics is another brand i like. I've had both of them in the truck I used to own and they performed well. I also have had brands like Alpine, Kenwood,Sony and the sorts for speakers and don't get me wrong. They sound pretty good also but I am a firm believer in leaving the deck building to the deck builders and the speaker building to the speaker builders. Just my ten cents. And as far as the sub goes. I have the Limited T4R and the sub takes up no extra space. Now if you go and get yourself one of those big ass boxes that the kids get now a days for the 15's...then you will be waisting some space. Find yourself a factory sub enclosure at a junk yard or ebay and it will be plenty. Fits right in the side. Won't even know it's there. My nephew rode with me the other day while he was here for Xmas and I threw on some Drake for him off of my iPhone. Now i still have the standard JBL factory NAV system and he was very impressed. Said he couldn't believe how well this factory system hit the lows. The factory sub placement on T4R's does pretty well acoustically. It uses the whole rear quarter panel as an amplifier. If you read some Bose articles...most of your bass response comes from your placement. Same thing in your house. Well i've rattled on enough..hope this helps you out a little bit in your decision.
