Need HELP getting door panel all the way off

My 4Runner: '93 4Runner, 3L v6, 4wd, 5spd

I could really use some help this morning. I am trying to remove the door panel to get access to the electric window switch. My Wife's switch stopped working last week.

I got the door panel loose all the way around, but right where the handle is, the panel is loose, but handle itself is as solid as a rock. I've removed the screw in the middle of the handle, but it still won't move.

Anyone know what I need to do to get the handle off and the panel the rest of the way off?

Ok, since I had no reply and I got the job done, I will post the results for others who may someday have the same problem:


This is for people who have power windows and door locks.
1. Used wide flat chisel (or you could use a flathead screwdriver) and starting on one side, go all the way around while prying the plastic white snap-ins out of their sockets.
2. Then I used a pocket knife to remove the little covers on the armrest. There are two Philip screws deep in the holes, un-screw them. They probably won't come out, but that's ok.
3. Removed the Philips screw from inside the door handle area.
4. You must push the entire door handle assembly forward until it clicks out of place and becomes free.
5. Now lift the door panel over the door lock.
6. Rotate the door panel somewhat sideways and you will need to (pay attention here) "jockey" the door handle assembly through the hole it's in.
7. On the front doors, disconnect the wires for the armrest light, power door locks and windows. Rear doors will only have two wires to disconnect (no armrest light).
8. The door panel should now be completely free

I will need to repeat this process to fix the other side, when I do, I will include pictures and how I fixed the power window switch that had burned out connections (it's amazing what a small file or grinder will do).

correction or update

my rear window had this prob and there are no white clips. if ya pry it it breaks. found out the hard way.. there are tabs with slots that hook into the door metal. slide the door handle piece that has the screw hole and slide it forward or back. my passenger side slid forward.
