Hey folks,
So I'm having an issue with my 2007 sport v6. A few weeks ago I noticed my heat wasnt always working. Then i started noticing my temp guage was jumping up and down. It would start cold as usual, then climb to normal operating temp. Then after usually a few minutes, whether I'm in drive or neutral or park, it will slowly climb all the way to red line temp sit there a few seconds and drop back down to normal temp. This will go on the whole time its running. It never sits in red for very long but it also doesnt stay at normal temp for very long. It however NEVER goes below normal temp. My heat works sometimes and doesnt other times. Sometimes it works when my guage is reading at max temp and sometimes at medium temp. And then sometimes not at all or it will for a minute or two then cut out. Im so confused.
I replaced my thermostat first, obviously. No change. I have tried "burping" my coolant (think thats what its called) and that also didnt work. There doesnt seem to be any obvious issue or damage and all pulleys and the belt and fan are working normal, I believe. Any suggestions? I hate taking my 4runner to a mechanic I'd rather figure it out myself but I am stumped. Any input would be great! Thanks!
