NEED HELP (Tire size, Wheel offset, Lift?)

Hey guys, ive been roaming here for a long time now haha, but its coming to that moment when i have to money to buy new Wheels and Tires. I have spent countless hours studying measurements concerning Wheels, Offset, and Lift.

I just need someone very experienced with this topic to help me clarify a few questions and to make sure i have things correctly figured out before i buy all my stuff this week!

I just installed the Old Man Emu 2" lift on my 2007 4Runner. I have the stock wheels and a set of 2007 FJ Cruiser 17" wheels. The FJ wheel offset is a bit more than the 4Runner wheel offset. As a result, they give my 4Runner what appears to be a slightly wider stance. I used the FJ wheels with my snow tires pre-lift installation and they worked fine with no issues using stock sized snow tires - 265/65R17.

I will soon be installing some Falken 265/70R17 tires on the 4Runner wheels and selling the FJ wheels.

Take a look at my build, I have a full time 4wd limited 2006 and Lifted it in early december. I had to trim a tiny bit off the front bumper and move the liner forward a few inches. The body mount could be chopped and should be before I do any wheeling but for now the only rubbing issue i have is if I attempt a U turn going a bit faster than I should and the body rolls into the tire, other than that Ive been problem free. I even towed a fully loaded Uhaul trailer from the northernmost city in Maine to central florida with no issues. I went with a 255 tire because living in northern maine at the time I wanted better snow performance, however I really like these tires and how they look so when i replace them I will more than likely stay with this size, unless i lift higher to fit 35s.

Depends on the build you want.

If you want to have options to upgrading to bigger tires in the future without running any wheel spacers.

My suggestion is the following:
1) 18" wheel x 9" (or at least 8.5" wide)
2) 20" wheel x 9" (or at least 8.5" wide)
3) for both wheels, find an offset between 0mm and -20mm (this will allow you to clear inside with a 285 or 295 tire) [if you plan to put 305+ wider tire, you will need to do BMC]

With a negative offset, you will have to do light bumper trimming and fender liner mod with a heat gun

Tires, a lot of people go for 265/50/20 for street use.

But if you plan. On going off road, 275/55/20 [275/65/18]

There's so much possibilities, just depends on what's your plan.
