Need help w t4r stuck in 4lo

Had issues with engine .2 heads got blown idk how. Rebuilt the engine everything went in its place. now after the whole nightmare of going thru all that 4x4 is stuck in 4LO it would not come out of it .
If any one ran into a scenario like this and how were you able to fix it .
Please advise its getting frustrating ... thanks in advance

Try driving foward, reverse, different combos?.. Sometimes I have to do this to get back in 2wd.

i did i even unpluuged the actuator , tapped on transfer case n actutaor still nothing ....

One time on a suburban or a Tahoe (can't remember was a friends) it wouldn't go into 4 wheel. It was all electronic controlled. We disconnected battery I want to say for a bit (enough time to walk to the house for a beer) and it ended up working. May have been pure luck but we had looked everything over and never replaced a part.

How did it get into low in the first place?

Check the linkage and see if it's connected or if it is jammed.

I had an old part time 4wd with manual front hubs vehicle stuck in 4LO once after I drove it on pavement a little bit. The whole drive line got bound up and there was enough pressure to keep everything locked up. Fixed it by lifting one front and one back wheel in the air to release the bind.

I don't know for sure if your 4runner has a similar system, but on my tundra (a 2009) there are wheel speed sensors on each wheel that tie into the ABS system, and I had a stick slice the wire that runs into the wheel speed sensor while I was offroad and make my truck stuck in 4low. Check your wheel speed sensors for problems in their connection
