Need help with center diff lock

Sounds like it. You will need to drop the case and change the seals, theres a thread showing how to do it with a 4runner, your case is slightly different.

I have read the threads on here about dropping the case. So it's the o rings around the shafts of the locker where the gear oil leaks into the locker and the plug? Since I probably will never use the locker, could I just leave it alone or will there be other consequences from not fixing it ? Like I said, the locker eventually comes on steadily lit. At first the VSC lights up pretty quickly, then it may be 30-60 seconds before the lock lights up solid.
The truck has 250K miles on it. Runs very well, I just replaced the timing belt and water pump and all tensioners and pulleys.

I guess you could leave it, but I think that eventually all the oil will drain out of the case and burn the gears since the seals just get worse over time. If you want to get this over quickly, just buy a whole new transfer case with actuator from the dealer and slap it in. I could imagine that all the labor at the dealer to remove the case and the actuator would come out to about the same price as just buying a new case complete.
