Need Ideas, Where to mount Locker/Compressor Switches

I'm Trying to decide where im going to mount my locker switches and can't seem to decide. I was thinking of removing the DAC button (USELESS ANYWAYS) and putting all three there, but I'm kinda worried that someone will bump something and lock it up on accident. On the left of the steering wheel there aren't enough blank spaces for them. Maybe put the compressor over there and the two lockers in front of the center console since you have to turn on the compressor first for the lockers to work. Any other ideas? maybe a good place to mount a custom panel?

I like that, but its a 5th gen. Not sure we have a flat enough spot in that area to mount the panel. I will have to look more closely.

I moved my A/C 115 watt button to the area infront of the center console. then mounted, the compressor switch on the far left blank followed by the front locker switch then the rear locker switch and moved the center diff lock to the far right switch opening to left of the steering wheel.

I've had it like that for a while and have yet to mistakenly flip the switches. the only time it would happen is when you were either A.) getting in or out of the car or B.) while cleaning flipping the switch and forgetting to flip it back off. Both of those situations the vehicle is going to be parked and not cause any damage.

Plus they're rocker switches and the off position is rocked down, the direction your knee might push it anyway. you would have to bounce up and forward to turn them on with your knee by mistake.

as many times as I've seen my DAC mistakenly switched on I would not put them in front of the center console.

So you just extended the wires for the AC switch? The only problem I have with this idea is that I also have a rocker for my Rigid bar in one of those slots. I suppose I could easily move it as well. Wish we had more empty spots like the tacomas do. I looked at lunch for a good place to mount a panel and there really isnt any.

You could put them between the map lights if they're actual switches, and not the OEM-style buttons. And if you have no use for the garage door buttons, you can use those 3 buttons.

I dont think that will work for me.. IM thinking maybe remove the little opening pocket thing below the climate controls and build a panel that mounts there.

A few people have done things like that with it, I think it's pretty cool, as I don't use it. Some people even replace their cup holders with panels/control units/etc.

yeah, I just cut the wires and spliced a long 4 wire jacketed cable through the dash then back up the console worked great. I have the limited that came with the heated seats as well as openenings in the center that were meant for air ride adjustment switches so I still have one open spot on my center console for lights. (basically before I moved anything around I had two open spots on the panel left of the steering wheel and two open spots on the center console switch panel) now I have one spot open in the center I can use for a light bar i suppose lol.

another option you have is on the inside of the console itself you on the front face closest to the shifter inside the console box you can remove the console cut rectangles for the switches and install there hidden out of the way.

there is also space on the gauge cluster panel to the left of the gauges theres enough room to the left of your interior illumination dimmer wheel switch to cut out one or two more rectangles for additional rocker switches there.

just requires a little cutting (a dremel tool works best to keep it neat) but once the switches are installed they lip the edges so you can't see any nasty cuts or anything so don't be afraid to get creative and do some custom work
the sky is the limit my friend..

other spots that just come to mind.. the left and right faces of the console itself on the sides you could cut into the plastic there as well and mount up the switches. The panel that has your 4wd shifter knob on it either under the emergency light button or under the 4wd knob left and right of the center HVAC panel.

I posted the same question a few weeks ago. After sitting in the truck and looking around for a while, I think I'm going to modify the sunglasses holder by removing the door and then placing an ABS plastic panel in there so it's somewhat flat and then mount the switches there. It also reduces the risk of them accidentally being switched on. If anyone has seen a write up on this let me know. If not, I'll start one when the time comes.
