Need tires!! Please!

hey guys, i work at the auto shop on Fort Detrick and some guy was changing out his tires and left 4 used ones here for us to throw away, but they were the same size as my truck and they had 40% tread left on them, so i snagged them and put the on my rig. Problem is that was like 6 months ago and the treads REALLY DOWN now!! i REALLY want some 35's and aggressive tread, something like Duratracs or Nittos or something of that nature... Problem is im extremely broke :/ i saw people posting on here about how they got 4 duratracs with 80% tread for $50 on craigslist!! So im asking any of you who have some used or new tires that they are willing to part with to please send me a message so we can talk!! Or possibly if you can find a good deal on some tires in your area i would pay you to be middle man! I live in Thurmont MD so i would have to cover shipping cost ect. im just desperate and trying to find some help! :ohwell: Thanks guys i REALLY appreciate it! and if you got some time i just put a bunch of pics up for the first time on my profile today!! If you're having a hard time affording the replacement of stock tires, maybe worrykng about aftermarket upgrades should be lower on your priorities list.

That sounds rude, admittedly. However, it's really not aimed to be so. The thing is that with larger tire setups, as with any "upgrade" over what the engineers at Toyota came up with for performance and longevity, your costs are going to increase by a good amount with not only the original cost but also the wear and tear/strain that it puts on everything else on your rig.

Maybe focus on bettering your financial position, then upgrade away!

Agree with him. It cost me a lot just to get setup for 33s. But if you must do it check out my thread.

I agree, Wake. OP, I know you're not asking for unsolicited advice, but 35s are going to cost you more in gas (even more so if you get an "aggressive" tread pattern - like a mud tire) and hurt your overall performance of your t4r. Plus, you're more likely to find better tread tires in the 245-265 range rather than 35s.

Just some food for thought.
 
I hate to be an additional downer, but I agree with the others. If you can't afford the bigger rubber, odds are you aren't going to be able to afford the added expenses that come along with them. That and even if you find a good deal on a set, they tend to wear faster than most regular sets of tires, so you'll be in the same boat in a short period of time.
 
You'll have to scour CL for those same types of deals. But I assure you nobody got 4 Duratracs for $50.

If you do give any consideration to Srabai's offer, I'll throw my hat in the ring too. I have a '98 with brand new tires, new Bilsteins, '99 tall springs, brand new Tundra brakes, brand new rear brakes, brand new radiator, brand new tstat, brand new trans cooler (only way to eliminate any possibility of a milkshake), new plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, etc. essentially it's the truck you want to start a build off of. All the maintenance is done.

I think your '98 is in better condition than mine.
 
Wow, ok I really appreciate the advice guys! i didnt realize that so much more had to go into beefing everything else up to run big tires.... i just love the look of the bigger tires and stuff... make it more like a TRUCK! haha but i deff. would plan on doing the upgrades in the future!! And as far as trades...... eeehhhhh i dunno..... i love my runner.... my girlfriends dad worked at a toyota dealership in Bethesda MD and some rich older lady came in and it needed, a valve cover gasket, timing bet, and clutch and it was like $5k worth of repairs (with labor being over !50 and hour there!!) so she asked if there was any place she could DONATE IT! so he said he would give her $300 for the title and she JUMPED on it! needless to say i got the repairs for $1200 (cuz i didnt have to pay labor, just parts) and i got the rig with 95k on it for a total price of...... $1,500!!! haha paid it off two years ago and i have like 140k on there now! But its my dream truck, ive ALWAYS wanted a 4runner (specially 3rd gen BEST BODY STYLE!) and with the hood scoop ^.^ just wanna start beefing it up and making it more aggressive but i guess that will come with time, and alot more moneyz!! haha
