Negative aspects of wheel spacers??

Backspace is the distance from the inside rim edge to the hub mounting surface.

Offset is the distance of the hub mounting surface from it's centerline. Zero offset means the hub mounting surface is at it's centerline. Positive offset will narrow the track width. Negative will widen the track width, also sometimes chosen to help tires clear suspension components.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was curious if the stress put on the components are lessened if I keep an OEM 18" wheel/tires? Also, I saw someone mentioning adding locktite - what is that? Lastly, when you guys refer to retorquing, I'm assuming you mean tightening, right?

Sorry for the many questions. I would like to do this mod but like many others, I would like to understand the risks first. Thanks!

Locktite is a brand of thread locker.

Retorquing means retightening to spec.
