Negotiating a new Purchase - What last min options did you negotiate?

They are not "throwing anything in", if that's what they are doing.....you've paid for it!

eh, yes and no. the cross bars, weather mats and cargo covers cost them almost nothing. if they are willing to start throwing in new tires or more expensive items, yeah you maybe left some money on the table.

when you have a price all decided that's a good price, before you sign, say that you will sign if they can throw in those things. Per the pricing thread, I was below average pricing and they threw in the weather mat and cargo cover. (I had assumed the cross bars were standard so I didn't negotiate for those)

and that wasn't even for a vehicle they had on the lot, that was in network they had to ship from another dealership a few hours away

It still means there was money on the table.

Bingo!

Purchase of TRD Pro

Because I already had negotiated the price on the TRD Pro (a smidgin under MSRP), I couldn't do much for add ons at that point. Felt lucky to get the deal I did. Armed with info from this board however, I was able to negotiate a 7yr 100K warranty for 1$ above cost. Want Lil'Red to last.

There's only so much wiggle room in a deal. If you are getting them to throw stuff in at the end of the deal, it means you didn't haggle enough up front.

This is bad advice. You absolutely can hammer price until several dealers are walking away from a deal, at which point you know you are at the bottom on the vehicle purchase price. Then after you have locked in price, you start talking about dealer accessories.

Negative. This is assuming you've already done your negotiating and fuond the best possible price. If there's room to throw in accessories, even if the cost is $10, that's $10 more they were willing to give up on the deal that you could have gotten without involving accessories.

I haggled for a 2016 TEP w KDSS got it at invoice since the 2017s are in... also negotiated up to 30.5k for my 2014 w 70k miles on it, they started low at 26k... and got them to throw in remote start and cargo crossbars... boom!

It doesn't hurt to ask and aim high.

A thought on tint though. The dealer is not putting on high quality tint. Sure it will be fine like the tint installed on my wife's GLE. I had carbon tint installed on my 4Runner to combat the rays of the sun. Night and day difference between the two vehicles. Just food for thought. My tint was expensive but with kiddos and dogs, the cost was second in terms of importance.

Floor mats, rear cargo cover, maybe door edge guards, cross bars would be good to get included. At the very least you could CL them and get money for the sliders and other things you will be buying.
