Neoprene seat-cover price/quality?

Hi folks.
First, yes I did a search & see this has been discussed. I know that Wet Okle is the priciest and generally pretty good quality. They also take quite a while to recieve after you order them.
Anyone hear anything or have any experience w/ Cover King (slightly less $ than Wet Okle) or Shear Comfort (even less than Cover King)? Anyone have any other brand/companies you've purcahsed quality fitted neoprene seat covers from for a fair price?
These neoprene (NOT “NeoSupreme” which isn’t water proof) are costly, but no doubt they offer good water-proof, washable protection from pets, weather and general grime.
We all like to save a few dollars. The price dif between Wet Okle & Shear Comfort is fairly significant especuially of purchasing front & rear. On the other hand I don’t want to purchase a shoddy product that won’t last just to save a few dollars.

They are not pretty good quality. They are excellent quality and they last. Well worth the money as I have had two sets for different vehicles in the past. I have not owned the other brands so I can't speak for them but I would find it hard to believe that the quality could be better for a cheaper price.

Neoprene seats

Almost everyone here likes the Wet Oakley. Not sure why. Neoprene does not breathe like perforated leather or cloth so I think it would get uncomfortable on a warm day.
I'd prefer a heavy Cordura Nylon product over anything that doesn't breathe.
I also wonder why we're not seeing any of the lambs wool seat covers that were so popular. That was all the rage in the 1970s and 1980s, IIRC.

Desert, I need the Neoprene as I’m a surf fisher & jump in & out of the truck while wet, salty and sandy. I also have two German Shepherd dogs who love to get wet & muddy. Don’t want the buggy to smell like a wet dog or low tide. The neos sheild the upolstry from the salt-water and muddy dog run-off and I can hoes them off or toss them in the washing machine.

Anyone here know anyone who bought “Cover King”?

Two years with a set of Wet Okoles, no issues. Gets hot and cold here and zero problems either way. So far they have been well worth the price. (I have a dog that likes to swim too )

I just got Wet Okole's during the holiday season and surprisingly they came sub two weeks I think. They gave me a date for like a month or more out but they arrived super early.

Also I called them to ask about washing them and they told me they don't really recommend throwing them in the machine, just wash them in place. Which I could see as install (while probably would be much easier now after initial time) was just a PITA.

The OEM Softex seats I now have are the best I have had so far. I constantly am getting in muddy, wet and sweaty and when I get home I just wipe them off with a damp rag. Perfect. I use a rubber backed carpet over the back seat for the dog and just wash that every now and then. I have had cloth, leather, the trail fabric on the TE and all types of neoprene seat covers. This Softex is the best I've found and it's OEM and comfortable to boot.

I had cover king neoprene seat covers on my 2006 Nissan Xterra and really liked them. They were comfortable and fit really tight, I don't have any experience with them on the 4Runner. I also have to second what 1engineer said about the softex. So far they have been durable, holding up and cleaning easily from 2 young kids and a dog, and we are regularly jumping in after a morning surf or paddle board session.

I get what you're saying. I was out skin diving at Point Dume, Malibu, CA a few of weeks ago. I swam back to the point in the middle of a seal rookery. Sea Lions scrambled off the rocks as I climbed up on the rocks and swarmed the water around my 2 dive buddies. They dug it and said it was a riot.

There's no way I would not want my car to smell like that rookery smelled like.
Luckily we were in a buddies car. And I got back in the water to swim around the point so the brown stuff on my neoprene wetsuit washed off. Fun times.

I'm a huge fan of the factory Softex as well. I've never gotten anything on them that I wasn't able to clean up with some water.

One more for Wet Okole here. Had them in my truck for many years, they hold up very well to hawaiian salt water, used to surf twice a week, never washed off due to where I used to surf (no showers).

They look new after years of abuse, just need to pull 'em off once or twice a year and throw 'em in the washer/dryer. Truck smells clean and fresh after you put them back in, and the seat covers feel like new again.

Last set is about 15 years old now, still look decent in my buddy's truck (I gave it to him after swapping my seats out for something else).

I have Cover King (2 sets) for the last 10 years in my 4runner. I don't like it that much. They stained easily and they shedded little "foam" very bad on the back side (non seating side).

Pretty much any seat cover that is weather proof will be somewhat uncomfortable in summer; because they all won't breathe well because they're liquid resistant/proof.

Bought a set of Wet Oakles for my stepdad to replace his god awful wool seat covers that he loved for so many decades. Those things are absolutely disgusting.

Giant sweat and filth sponge that stink when it's wet, stink when they're dry, and catch EVERYTHING. The only saving grace for them is that they are warm in the winter, which still doesn't make up for the literal filth piles they become in less than a month, let alone decades of use. My mother and I were so thrilled to see them go.

The Wet Oakles fit better, look better, and perform better than most seat covers in terms of all-weather protection.

Agreed, they do make ya sweat a lot! Generous use of max a/c will curb some of it though! :biggrin2:

That was my only gripe about wetsuit material seat covers, but washing them regularly keeps the stank away. Well, that and a towel if you're jumping in wet.

I spent some good money on Ruff Tuff. Made in Utah and they are custom fit. Zero complaints with them.
