Well god bless Jiffy Lube. They installed my oil filter with the gasket pinched on the side. Shot oil everywhere, and 23 miles later... BOOM.

It is a fucking nightmare dealing with these fucks...

It happened Wednesday and I wont have a rental til monday. When their inspectors come out to the dealership where my 4Runner is being worked on.

Maybe they did you a favor since you had to have some miles on that 3.0 but maybe you could talk Toyota into a 3.4 swap.

I know any of those oil places can be a risk so it's not one chain abd you take a risk anywhere.

At least their nano-brain remembered to pour new oil into the engine.

Had a friend who had his Honda's engine freeze on the Bay bridge, because JL forgot to put oil in the crankcase after draining.

Take a look at most of the Jiffy Lube "Technicians". I have nothing against people smoking left-handed cigarettes, but not just before working on my vehicles.

That is settlement he got with the lawyer. Remember they will look at the age of the vehicle, mileage, etc.

I hope you can fair better than he did.

I had a couple friends who worked at an oil stop place. They would always tell me stories on how they would fill up radiators with oil and engines with anti-freeze. Of course this was all by mistake but that should give you the IQ of the normal oil stop worker.

No experience necessary just a vaild drivers license and your hired.

And this is the reason why dealerships can charge so much for the regular services....

I have had pretty good luck with Jiffy Lube, but I also know the owner of the one near me and he doesn't hire kids off the street.

Back in '88I had another quick lube place do an oil change on a camaro I used to have and about 150 miles later the tranny blew (manual tranny too)... Found out that then they checked the tranny levels, they forgot to put the plug back in and while driving 90% of the fluid was pushed out at higher temps. All my lawyer had to do was go to the shop and there sitting on the lift was the missing drain plug... They claimed they did so many cars they forgot where the plug came from, but it matched my vehicle... Close enough for the lawyers to get some cash (about 2 grand) to cover my hotel expenses while they rebuilt my tranny.
