Hi guys! New to the forum (though have a few threads already going) and finally got my pics taken. Everything is stock, so it's nothing super spectacular at the moment. But none-the-less, let the eye candy begin:

No KDSS or Nav. Just got mostly base options with running boards and some of the dealer tweaks (no seat belt chime:bluejump:, remote/key roll down all windows).

Wow... my dealer had trouble getting his hands on this one. He had to get it from backhauled from North Carolina. But the dealer that originally had it wouldn't give it up for anything other than another trail edition. So my dealer had to find another dealer elsewhere that would give up their trail edition for something else (I think they traded a LE for it). Then once they had the red trail edition from the other dealer, they were able to trade the dealer in NC for my car. Overall took about a month to get my hands on it.
The one thing that made it a bit tougher is they agreed upon a pretty good deal before they had their hands on the car, so they had to work pretty hard to come out making any money on the whole thing (still not sure they did...).

i think it might be the regional thing, we have a lot of toyota dealers around L.A. area and most of them have at least 1 TE. but dealers in CA are too greedy, 1-2k markups are normal around here. that's why i've waited few months. glad your dealer finally worked it out for ya.

A guy I work with had a cool tactic for buy his car. He did his research and found out the invoice price for the vehicle he wanted (as best he could tell). He figured out what 1% or 2% over that was and wrote it down on a piece of paper and sealed it in an envelope. He then went to the dealer and said "I want X car w/ X options, and I won't pay anymore than what's in this envelope... I'll show you what's inside the envelope only after you name a price. But if your price is higher than what's in the envelope, I'm walking away".
The salesman and the manager were kinda weirded out and also a bit freaked out so they shuffled around and came up w/ a number. It ended up being a few 100 less than what was on the paper.
I'd call that a success. Wish I hadn't already agreed on a price by the time I heard that story.

Ha! that's a good tip. i'm gonna try that when time comes. invoice price for TE + KDSS + NAV is a little over 38k on edmund and that is my target price or maybe couple hundred on top of that. if they are gonna play with me, i'll just walk away. over 80 toyota dealers in socal is something i can take advantage of

Nice, no seat belt chime.... might have to investigate on that one! Nothing is more annoying than be off road and doing under 5 mph, then increasing speed and hearing that annoying chime. I have heard others getting a spare seat belt buckle and using that!

The dealer may look at you funny when you ask (there's threads about it on here). Just be stern that you want it, and if they say it's not legal, tell them it is b/c you still get the indicator light. And the light still does its job b/c it'll catch your eye that there's a red light blinking on your instrument set.

I did just see the latest episode of MythBusters where they showed that LineX makes most surfaces a lot tougher. I saw this thread and like how it looked, though I wouldn't get the exact same surfaces done.
Will also consider some beefier tires when new tires are needed.
Would really like a more serious bumper as we do have a lot of deer (etc.) that like to stand in the middle of dark highways out here.
Might one day work up the courage to do the RearView Camera Mod
At the moment I don't anticipate much, if any, more extreme offroading. Will just be looking for people to go get lost in a state park or something and do some overnight camping. So most of my mods planned won't be as much in the super off roading arena as many here do.

Will do. I just went and tried to take some, but the flash makes for way too many awful glares, and the camera can't focus very well in the dark. I'll take some tomorrow during the day and get them posted when I get home from work.

Here's some interior pics of all the gauges, dash, etc. Sorry if some are a bit blurry. Lighting is kind of a pain inside the cabin of a car apparently.

Radio turned off
Radio turned on. It's a dot matrix display, so any bit of detail/information is possible. No goofy 7/14 segment display stuff
Transmission, transfer control (that the right term?), and rear window control
Ceiling controls: Garage door controls, light switch, sunroof controls, *button that slips my mine*, A-Trac, locking rear diff, Crawl control, terrain select
Right side of the steering column
Left side of the steering column
Secondary display above the center air vents
Rear view mirror with the backup camera showing (and plenty of glare, as could be expected in a mirror)

Thought it was me til i put my glasses on and they didn't help :nerd:
Sorry... left my canon 5d w/ flash defuser in the other 4runner.:happens: Not like I could use a flash from a distance so I didn't get a glare off of every surface.... And there's not really any kind of good natural lighting in the interior of a car.
So.....How about you go troll somewhere else.
