New 4500 Luman LED Headlight option from VLED

very pricey:yield: but holey cow!!!!

LMZ 45W 4500LM ULTRA OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS FOG LIGHTS - Headlights

4500 Lumens per side:heh::heh:
Also the emitter position can be adjusted front to back and or turned to fire L/R or T/B so one should in theory be able to place the emitters in the best possible spot to take advantage of the optics of the headlight housings; be it projector or reflector. yes still not as good as a HID retro fit from a filament prospective but the 4500 lumans is more then most HIDs put out.

who needs a light bar when you could have 27000 lumans from all 6 bulb locations... lol:mod::mod::mod:

$80 is expensive?! What did you pay for your 4R?

If you really want to know how bright they are, call and ask how many lux they are out of your headlamp housings at, oh let's say.... 50ft. Lux will measure the intensity at a distance.

They are $250, when you use the toggles it adds a lot to the price, I guess you have to buy an adaptor and the bulb separate from the initial price. That is pretty steep. If you got the ones that might actually be appropriate for a headlight housing given the claimed lumens those are only like $85.

Maybe you were thinking for the high beams?

At that cost keep stock and add some rigid D2's on the front.

i'd love to know that too. and i'd love to see what the output looks like from a halogen reflector. (site shows output from projector.)

$250 ain't cheap, but it's way cheaper-er than a full-bore projector retrofit.

cheaper than a full-bore retrofit:thumb: yep

and at 4500 lumans much more output (from the bulb) than the hid kits that are out there.

there adapter piece that goes on the bulb appears to have options to go into the low beam as well as the hi beam slot!!!

Good luck getting that to fit...looks like a full blown air fan for the house stuck on behind it.

From the measurements in the diagram it appears to be 2" across the face of the heat sink and 1.5" exposed depth from the plug in + a little bit for the wires. It looks pretty tight to me. It may not fit even if the headlamp assembly is removed to install it. In my case, I think the H9 mod makes more sense until something more compact comes along.

Im not afraid to cut some structure back to get these to fit...:spit::thumb:
Just that price is a negative right now...

Going to take some measurements this weekend and see what would need to be cut out to get these to even go in. then decide if its worth the cost and modding to give these a try.

very interesting........

These appear to be genuine alternatives to HIDs, but there is still the issue that LED light is directional (light being emitted at certain angles) Notice the ability to rotate the "bulb" to adjust beam, in an HID bulb, you don't have this b/c the light isn't directional, it is spread thru ALL angles. Although 4500 lumens is a buttload, but I would like to see more reviews on these. I've read some reviews stating that the beam spread is "iffy and spotty" (more light in some places than others). You don't see this in HID light.

I'm not going to lie, I'm considering these for my highs, I'll standing by for the moment.

How would oncoming traffic feel about a light that puts out theoretically twice the light though in a low beam?

I pass crappy hid's all the time spreading light everywhere and I just want to slap them.

That said my high beams are worthless now that I have a rigid sr20 in the front grill so might be nice to remedy that.

CookieRoe if you do let me know how well they fit...

I am considering making a model of these 4500 lumen bulbs and a model of the 3000 lumen ones to see if its possible to fit these in the low and hi beam slots.\

Right now it looks like there is a possibility the heat sinks may hit each other.

People who think these are legit alternatives to a retrofit really don't care about others on the road.

in this case since the emitters can me moved inside the projector housing/and in the hi beam reflect...

It is unknown how the beam pattern will look/come out and how much glare there will be/ how effective the cut off is....
We will just need to wait and see once someone installs them and tries them out...

The more I look at this the less likely I am to purchase. For the High beams (depending on the beam pattern), I might still only b/c highbeams I only use for 1) flash to pass, 2) very low light, usually not on for long, so blinding others isn't a issue. For the low beams, if you have a halogen reflector, FORGET it, you WILL blind on coming traffic. I don't care what others THINK. It's physics, pure and simple. If you have projectors, then better, but you still face the issue that LEDs are directional light in a reflecting media that is meant for all direction light source. That's a recipe for bad beam pattern. Unless I see pics, I will hold off on "legitimizing" LED bulbs as a legit replacement for halogen bulbs.

LED:
1) for halogen reflector low beam: NO
2) for high beam: IF the beam pattern sucks, then no, otherwise I don't see why not.
3) for projectors: maybe. BIg maybe (leaning toward no, jury is still out until more information is out)

in any event: Fitment: I have my doubts as there is little space behind the driver's low beam bulb (in the 4th gen, the battery is RIGHT THERE). It is my understanding that the 5th gen is the same if not worse.

FWIW: vLeds make quality products.

I just ordered a set for the high beams so they will be brighter than my low beams again (lows are Led's and highs currently are not). I'll let you guys know how it goes when they come in.

bit of an overreach. and a massive sweeping generalization.

assuming the rendered light pattern isn't so sloppy that it better resembles a fractal, if your headlights are adjusted properly no one will be bothered by your specific light source. i've been running the H9 & HIR combo for almost 5 years and my lights aren't bothering anyone because i adjusted them down—perhaps overly so. but the hysterics would have you believe this has left a ditch full of blinded drivers in my wake. simply not the case.

in contrast, the other night a douche-nozzle in his Audi TT was driving me bananas with his super poorly adjusted, super-purple HID-LED-WTF lighting—and i'm lifted.

you have 2013 trail so you are Low reflector and hi beam reflector.

so your experience with these in your hi beam (reflector) will defiantly be a valued experience/opinion.

Now to see who is willing to take a chance with them in a low beam ( projector housing) but again with proper aim to not blind on coming traffic.:flame:

The area in front the battery on the 2014 Limited is tight and just looking at things not actually measuring anything. I dont see such a large heat sink fitting in there with leds in both low and hi beam slots...
