New 4RUnner newbie..

Hello,
I'm new to the forum, and new to 4Runner... kind of. I had a 2nd Gen, and loved it until the 3.0L took a dump at 300K. I should have just replaced the motor. I'm currently in the process of finding and customizing a 3rd Gen. If anyone know the right place to look. I am looking at the classifieds here, cars.com and Autotrader.com. I will also, be looking for information on a lift, say 3 inch. as well as tires and Wheels. I've spoken with some folks who have don the lift on the cheep, buy using some Landcruiser, t-100, and tundra parts. I'm huge fan of using Toyota OEM parts, even if they are from a different model, to improve the vehicle. For instance, I know that certain tundra rotors, calipers, and pads will improve break performance, and that certain Landcruiser wheels will work for more than one reason. Anyway, I look forward to this project, and learning many things from the forum, and the learning curve on member's projects.

Well I found a 97 Limited in Desert dune and silver two tone, oak interior, wood. 214000 miles. $5200. Paid $4400. runs very strong, 300+ drive home. Full a/c rebuild & timing belt $1600 at the stealership. Next is a 3 inch lift with the new struts, shock and bushing throughout. I also got the O2 sensor error. Ordered two off rockauto. seeping rear trans seal, I have the seal ordered with the sensors. Stereo replacement ordered. New securikey+ fobs purchased, now to sort out the securikey system. Spent 3 hours trying and I think it's a job for the Stealership. It is a minor project But I should be in good shape for quite a while after I'm done.

Congrats! Assuming yours is an automatic you'll wanna look into an external tranny cooler if there's not one in there already.. B&M 70264 or 70268 will work perfect. Amazon has em for around ~$60-$70.

Thanks, I am getting the rest of the stuff done, but I haven't even looked at that, but it have one before the deal is done. I'm thinking that since the trans seal is seeping, I will drop it and re-gasket it.. That would be the perfect time to ensure it does have a cooler put on it.
