My 1st post here is perhaps a little premature, but I've just put a deposit on a Magnetic Gray Trail Premium. It's still in production, shipping on 8/2 and should arrive at my dealer on or around 8/23. It has all of the bells and whistles I was looking for, especially KDSS. Can't wait!

Found a ton of great info on this forum over last couple of weeks, so I figured I should probably join and participate.

Background on me: I was a Toyota guy for a long time, owning 2 FJ40 Land Cruisers, '65 and '77, as well as an '86 FJ60. Then I crossed to the "dark" side and owned a few Jeeps, '89 Cherokee and '96 Grand Cherokee. Most recently, I have an '07 Jeep JK that I'm trading in on the 4Runner. Good to be back in the Toyota family again. :)

My hobbies include guitar, photography, backcountry exploration, camping, hiking and generally anything that involves being outdoors.

I plan on building my 4Runner to support those activities. Looking forward to being part of this community!

Welcome, it sounds like you're getting the same truck I just got last week - I love it! I'm heading out this morning with a group from this forum so I'm looking forward to seeing the builds in person. I hear the Warthog might be there too among others.

Thank you for the welcome! Have fun on that run. Looking forward to getting mine out there too. It goes on the boat on 8/2, so I'll have to keep myself busy looking at other's rigs on this forum. Some very nice 4Runners on here. Cheers!

Thank you NoLight! Having fun surfing around the forum and looking at other folk's rigs. Have quite a few ideas for my build already. :)

Welcome to T4R.ORG!....:hatsoff:

Thank you Momo! As of 1 week ago yesterday, my magnetic gray Trail Premium had left Japan and is on it's way to Portland, OR. According to my dealer, it should reach the port on the 17th of this month and deliver to the dealer on the 23rd. Can't wait!!! :jump:

PDXplorer, I'm in the same boat, literally! My Trail Premium should be coming in around the same time. I have quite a few definite plans after surfing posts. I might see you around I'm in Oregon City, congrats on the new ride, I loved my 1st gen 4R!

this makes (almost) 3

What are the first things you guys are going to do?

Hey Wild Duck, Sorry I missed your post. I must have my notifications set up incorrectly... lol :noidea: I'm still waiting. It was "due" to the dealer yesterday. Dealer called said it was at the Port of Portland, but they don't really know when it will show up at their lot, maybe by the end of the month. Suspense is killing me. haha I've been passing the time waiting for mine shopping for mods. I'm in Beaverton, but roam around a fair bit. Hope to see you out there. Congrats to you too!

Not yet, Grasshopper. :-( Funny thing is that another dealer looks to have the exact same model as mine in inventory. I put a deposit with the local dealer on one that was "in production" back in late July. Still waiting... Like you, I've been working on my mod list though.

1) Lift, probably Toytec
2) Black TRDP wheels and (285's) BFG KO2's
3) Sliders
4) Headlight upgrade, either HID or LED (haven't decided which yet)
5) Gobi rack

That'll kill this year's mod budget. lol

Grasshopper,
Mine is in! I snatched it from Ron Tonkin Toyota, they had just ordered the unit and my Father-n-Law (a salesman next door at Tonkin Mazda next door) was able to put my name on it. I'm waiting to take delivery after the Icon Stage 7 suspension, window tinting, TRD wheels and BFG AT2's are all installed. Getting a few things done right out of the gate!

PDXplorer,
I'm exited to take delivery but I had surgery on my right leg to re-attach a torn tendon, so I can be patient until I can drive in September! See the response to Grasshopper below but my unit is in and I'm having them install a few items before I take delivery. Once it's home I have a set of Rocky Road Outfitters sliders ordered and I'm looking at the Bud Built 1/4" aluminum skid plate package for the engine, tranny and transfer case. One nice long smooth setup! I slipped under the truck and the factory gas tank skid is pretty beefy. Next is a set of Maxxtraxx, an undercover winch mount and a Warn 10K Zeon Platinum winch that is fully cordless remote hidden under the factory front end, the only thing showing will be the fair lead and two 1" thick "D" ring attachment points. I don't like the big heavy bumpers. I have a longer list of adds but this will take me all of this year to do within my budget. She should rail pretty good in the sand, snow and gravel roads! I'll post pics when I take delivery.

NICE!! And congrats!! I love that Monaco Red. I hope your leg heals soon, so you can start wrenching on your new rig. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing pics of your mods. I've not ordered anything yet. I'm waiting until mine is in my driveway... haha Funny, but I just received a call from Beaverton Toyota. They say mine should be in by the end of the week. To be honest, they've been pretty vague about due dates, but I'm hoping this is true. We shall see. Will post pics if/when it actually happens. lol

Good luck on getting it! I was repeatedly told how lucky I was to snatch this one as they are getting scarce as the 16's start rolling in. Leg is healing well, just a matter of time and physical therapy. I loved my 1st Gen and the whole family was sad to see it go, but this one should be fun, attached are pictures of the 87'!

That 1st Gen was sweet! I'd have been sad to see that go too. I wanted one of those years ago, when I'd first seen them. Ended up with a Land Cruiser, then another Land Cruiser and they yet another... lol So this will be my first 4Runner. I put a deposit on this one back in late July, so I'm hoping it's more of a question of when than if. If it falls through for some reason, I'll hold out for a 2016. Wilsonville has one coming in at the end of Sept. I can be patient... somewhat...

Wild Duck,

Thanks for the info on your build. Sounds great.

The red TE is totally convincing. I just might have to rethink the 2015 LE in Mag Gray.

I am trying to decide which dealer to pull trigger.

Good luck rehabbing your tendon surgery.
