New 4Runner owner... almost ;-)

Got the call from the dealer tonight. They were finishing up pre-delivery inspection and I could come by first thing tomorrow morning to sign the paperwork/pick up my 4Runner. My wife and I snuck by the dealership to see if we could get an early peek and sure enough, there it was at the back of the lot. YES!! Definitely worth the wait. :guitar3:

Thank you! I've been looking for excuses just to go out and drive it. I even volunteered to do the grocery shopping. lol I think this is the first vehicle I've ever bought that I love more every time I drive it.

I may be a little biased, but go with the magnetic gray... ;-) Then again, I don't think there are too many around in Monaco Red and was tempted to go with that. Those are my two favorites. Tough call.

Thank you! One of the things that I love about this truck is that it screams Toyota, if that makes any sense. Even as modern as this thing is, it still brings back memories of Toyota's in my past. Definitely not a bit of remorse here either. Ha!

Hey Wild Duck, sorry for the tardy response. Your rig looks great! Icon stage 7??!! :scared: I'm still trying to decide on a lift. I've narrowed it down to a couple Icon (not Stage 7... lol) or OME. We shall see, but I'm leaning toward the OME:

Old Man Emu Suspension Kit 2.5-3" Lift Kit For 10+ FJ Cruiser & 4Runner W/ BP-51

This should be more than adequate for what I'm doing. Not ready to pull the trigger yet... Icon has a lot of options and want to understand them more fully before I spend the $$$

My TRD wheels are still sitting my garage, waiting for tires and lift.

Are those the Shrockworks sliders?

PDXplorer, yeah no regrets on the Icon stage 7! The sliders are Rocky Road Outfitters Supersliders. Bolted on easy and are lighter and more discrete, I'm trying to make it as trail ready as possible but keeping the weight down. I don't feel like loosing power or mileage more than I already have. OME makes great products, my choice was between OME, King & Icon, I just heard too much great stuff from Icon owners, OME should be great too!

Nice! I like your approach, understated and minimal weight. Those sliders have a very clean look. I'm going to have to take a closer look at them. So far, I'm pretty partial to the Metal Tech sliders (they also happen to be local, which I like). Not that this is a big issue, but did you have to remove your front mud flaps to install them or did you just choose to?

I also want to keep the weight down as much as possible. Saw you'd looked at the SSS slimline bumper. I like those too: minimalist, lighter weight and preserves the general look of the front end which I like. Not wild about chopping my front fascia, but I'll get over that. Perhaps more concerned about the lack of protection at the corners. I seem to find (in my old JK anyway) rocks and trees more often than I'd like.

The OME lift may work just fine for me. My days of "hardcore" 'wheeling are behind me. Mostly interested in overlanding and exploring with my wife these days, but it'd be nice to know I can get where I want to if needed. I'll definitely be looking into Icon's lifts more closely. If I'm able to make the Teardrop trailer event, I may have to poke around your rig a little. lol

HI, first post and I am looking for advice. Wanted a Pro, but am thinking about the 2016 Trail, with Pro packages. I don't want to lift the KDSS, as it is more cosmetic and will soon become a kids car for our 3 kids. Is there anything I can or should do with tires? I was thinking just a more aggressive tire to look more like the Pro.

You said you had several modifications done before you took delivery. Can you explain that in a bit more detail?
Did the dealer install the aftermarket parts for you? Did they provide the parts or did you? Do you think that is an option that most other dealers offer, or is it specific to your dealer/part of the country?
I'm looking for a Trail Premium and want to mod it, but bringing it home from the dealer new with goodies installed has a certain appeal.

My First 4Runner?

I was supposed to pick up my new 4Runner yesterday, my wife and I had just stepped off of a 7 hour red-eye flight, returning from our honeymoon. We picked up our car and headed an hour away to the dealership that I have been working with, they were supposed to have the brand new 2016 White TEP w/KDSS waiting for us, just sign some paperwork and head home, which is now a short 7 hour drive away. Unfortunately, I got zero sleep on the plane. Once we got to the dealership, I was informed that they did not have the truck waiting for us, they never received it, it was still at the port, because it had been damaged. We decided it would be best to skip taking ownership of that particular vehicle. The dealer is now trying to find us a replacement, they have no idea when they can get one for us, hopefully soon, I am really looking forward to becoming part of the 4Runner family!
