New 4Runner Owner

Just purchased my new 2011 4Runner on 11/4/11. Choosing a color proved to be pretty difficult. The vehicle looks so good in every color offered, but I had to go with the magnetic gray. Brand new to the 4Runner as well as a real 4 wheel drive system. I have been viewing this forum for quite sometime now prior to my purchase and have found a wealth of knowledgeable information on here. You all have some very nice vehicles on this forum. I am looking forward to logging some miles on my new 4Runner.

I'm in the same boat! Just got a magnetic gray 2011 trail. It'll be a learning experience that I can't wait to get dirty on!
 
i traded in a brand new pilot (8 weeks old) for a mag grey 4r sr5. you will not be disappointed with your purchase. welcome.

I was visiting Toyota yesterday and saw a white pearl SR5. Soo dam sweet!!! urghhhh........ I'm still drooling........
 
CookieRoe: to make a long story short, the Pilot had transmission issues that the dealer would not recognize and/or fix. I test drove several brand new ones from the lot and they did not have the same problems mine had. I went as high as the owner of the dealership and still no help. I also belong to a blogging site just like this for Pilots, and there are several threads on there about people having the same issues, and some of them are very bad (transmission replacements after 12k miles.) Anyway, for sh!ts and giggles, I contacted a few Toyota dealers about what I could get on a trade and was able to get 500 bucks less for my trade than what I originally bought it for. I was happy, and this T4R is a MUCH nicer vehicle. In the end, I am the idiot for not doing enough research. Not badmouthing Honda, but I think they have a serious issue with their 2009-2011 Pilots.

I had an Acura (which is just a fancy Honda) that had it's transmission replaced. But by the time mine had gone out (3rd gear was just gone...) they had admitted the problem and done a recall. Got a free transmission, lucky my.
 
i probably would have stuck with the pilot if the toyota dealer didn't give me such a deal on the trade. i thought taking a $500 hit was well worth getting it off my hands and not having to deal with it anymore. coupled with the fact the t4r is a MUCH nicer truck, i am very happy with my decision.

I had 2008 Pilot and i traded for 2010 4runner, dont know about new pilots, but im glad i switched, waaaay nicer suv!!!
was it rough and loud?
 
4everunner: the pilot has the ECO feature that shuts down two or three cylinders. i was hearing a very noticeable noise when it was on. sounded like a dragging chain. Also, the vehicle would noticeably "shudder" and vibrate. a few times it would get very loud, like the tire was rubbing against the fender well, but i know that was not the problem since i was not turning, and there was no noticeable damage. like i said, i test drove several new ones and they did not have the same issues. i have spoken to several other pilot owners who are having the same problems, and as their pilots get more miles (mine only had 3500 when i turned it in), they are making countless trips to the dealer and some have had trannys replaced. i agree with you, i love this 4runner, and i wish i would have done my research more thoroughly. that is on me and it cost me 500 bucks and some grief.
 
500 bucks really is a small price to pay to get rid of that thing. good thing is you got yourself a good treat after all :girl:
 
Nice! Just picked up my Black TE this weekend! Can't wait to start building it up for the trail.

Congrats on your new 4Runner. I hope you enjoy having 4 wheel drive in general and especially the 4Runner 4WD.

I just purchased a new magnetic gray 2011 4Runner today to replace my 2001 4Runner. Delivery is scheduled for 11/12. This is my 4th 4Runner - 87, 93, 01, 11.
