Looking to get a new 24 before the new body style. I haven’t looked for a new car since 2018, so am a bit not up to date on the current state of affairs post pandemic shortages. Not finding many on dealer lots locally, found one out of state that is pretty much an exact match to what I’m looking for but it’s in transit. Are they still selling at msrp or are people getting them below? Pretty much all the dealerships I’ve talked to want a deposit for new ones coming in to reserve it. Which would seem like it is a sellers market on these still if there is that much demand.

I just bought one a week ago and got it just below MSRP. It is a TRD Offroad Premium and the dealer had it listed at $1400 above MSRP. I hate how they have MSRP + DPH then list it as "Total Suggested Retail Price". I ended up about $1900 below TSRP, $500 below MSRP. I was looking at the Land Cruiser so to me it felt like I saved $15k+!
Seems like it's been that way here in metro Detroit for a while. The few nearby Toyota dealerships that I keep an eye on will have 1-3 at a time but show 6-10 in production or transit. Have heard they don't do specific build orders so you basically have to tell them what you're looking for and hope you can put your name on it while it's in the production/transit stages if it meets your preferences but I haven't tried buying new. Depending on what you're looking for it may make sense to find a high volume dealer in another state, fly out and drive one back.

All depends what you are looking for and what is in stock within 100 miles or so. I bought mine in the spring and there were actually a fair amount in stock withing 75 miles, and more than a few of the exact model with spec I wanted. I used that to my advantage and multiple dealers had the one I wanted so I was about to negotiate a good deal from one of them.
The scales slides between buyer/seller very quickly these days based on stock, and I think the dealers know this and are smart (on their end) not to keep to many in stock as it limits negotiations.
I am not sure when the last '24 will roll off the line either and if they are slowing production as they get ready for the '25's to enter the line.
I looked last week and the nearest match to what I bought is over 250 miles away, next one to match is 400....so....it is all about timing and luck.
